hey guys,
first thing first, i have a 02 dakota ext cab 4.7L. i recently bought a set of 3 inch shackels for the leafs and a set of coil spring boosters for up front. and i ws wondering if anyone could tell me the proceddure for installing the shackels. i tried putting them on yesterday and i had a hell of a time. i removed the bolt holding the leaf to the bracket and the spring just bowed up. i couldnt lift the truck high enough to get the new shackels in there. Did i take out the wrong bolt?(was i supposed to take out the bolt that connected the braket to the frame?) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ohh and sorry for the long message but im really confused. thanks in advance, this is a geat site.

I wonder if you were lifting the axle or the body? I used a block with my jack on it to lift the body and take the tension off the leafs. Just a little, i didn't lift it all the way off the ground. I disconnected the bolts holding the stock shackle, and put on the new 2 inch shackles. Wasn't that hard. Some lift the axle and that pushes the leafs upward when u disconnect them.

i was lifting the truck on the frame just before the rear tire. is that the correct spot? are you saying to lift the bed of the truck up off the frame?(that doesnt sound correct). Ohhh and one more question do i remove(i think it is the stock shackel) the bracket that connectsthe leaf to the bracket that is bolted to the frame?

i bought them from Pep Boys, but im sure you can get them at a local auto store. ive seen them at quite a ffew stores out here(chicago).
