Subject: Measurements for 3" PA Body Lift? IP: Logged
Message: I'm considering adding a 3" PA Body Lift to my truck, in addition to the 3" Rancho I just installed. Since the PA lift always looks like more than 3" to me in pictures, I was wondering if anyone has taken any measurements after installing one of these. I know it seems like a bonehead question, but I would probably decide against putting one on if it lifts more than 3", so any help would be appreciated.

Message: hey wildhawk,i think i have a answer for you . i was pondering the same ? when i was doing my build up . go4x4n is right with the body lift you get exactly 3in of body lift. with a suspension lift your getting 3inches of suspension travel thats why a body lift looks bigger in a sense than a suspension lift . because you can actully see the differnce in the body where as if you took a stock truck and one with a suspension lift and let the wheels hang down you would be able to see the differnce. just trying to help, jay

Message: don't forget, most guys put on larger tires when they do the body lift, this would make it look larger as well.

Message: Hey wildhawk,
Did you get the 4" blocks in ok? I am now thinking of doing this. With 3 added turns to the torsion bars I got the front up to 42" and still have lots more cranking available. Now the back is at 41.5" with my 285x75x16's on. That of course is to the bottom of the fender well.
Also I did get the Heavy duty torsion bars for the 5.9's and they are beefy looking. I am having them installed today and hope all goes well.
Another question,
Where the torsion bars run through the new drop down brackets how close to rubbing on the bracket are the bars? I have one side that is almost touching and am gonna have to notch it a little to get the larger bars to work.

Message: Thanks guys for the help on the Body lift.
Chris,
The blocks worked fine. I can definately feel a little more wheel hop though. I ordered the Roadmaster Suspension and Im hoping that will take care of the problem. If not, I may try putting in the 2" block and an add a leaf. Ill keep you posted.
Keep in mind I have the 5.9 and the heavy bars came stock for me. That said, my passenger torsion bar is just barely touching the new tranny bar bracket. It doesnt seem to be causing any problems, but I do need to get under the truck and inspect it again now that ive put some serios miles on the lift. Ill let you know if theres anything major.
