Message: Well, you are now facing a very difficult situation. The shock is mounted by a threaded bolt and it is also threaded on the inside. So if you can't get the sheared portion removed with a bolt extractor then you have to buy a new lower control arm. This is going to run you an arm and a leg because they charge way too much for the lower control arm (at least in my mind), and it is just a huge ordeal that sucks up your modification money. I hope that this answers your question and didn't ruin your night at the same time. If you have anymore questions just ask because if you couldn't tell this has happened to me twice, and it does suck.

Message: I didn't change it myself as I didn't have time to do it, but it took your normal mechanics shop a couple days, but I think they were not the most intelligent people. They were teh closest and were open to late hours which worked for me as I was working ten hour days and couldn't take off. I don't think it would be that bad though because it looked like it was only a couple bolts and you were done. Hope this helps.

Message: WAIT!!! Do Not buy a new A-arm!
I had this problem a while back. It was sheared at the edge of the mount, so I tried an easy-out and ended up breaking it off inside the bolt. That really killed me, since even cobalt drill bits won't drill an easy out. Took the thing to a couple of shops and they all told me to replace the A-arm. I wasn't willing to spend that much on a broken bolt, so I tried an automotive machine shop. They were able to weld a rod on the end of the bolt and then use the rod to wrench out the bolt.
If you happen to live in the CA Bay area, let me know and ill get you the name of the shop.
Cost me about $75.

Message: Just as a tip to all, replace your shock bolts with Grade 8s. They actually fail in tension (from bending) not in shear so a higher strength bolt will help.
