Subject: 92 4X4 Lift Using Torsion Bars??? IP: Logged
Message: I have a V6 92 Club Cab Dakota and do some mild off roading. Been hitting the underside of the truck so looking for ideas on raising.
Was told that the torsion bars can be "raised" 2 to 3" without causing any driveline problems. Is this correct or will this cause excessive wear on the steering and CV joints? Any handling or suspension problems?
Also, an "Add a Leaf" would be used in the back to level out the truck. Any other options?
I don't want to get an aftermarket lift kit as this is big bucks. Any simple, inexpensive solutions?
Would appreciate your help and feedback. I just want to get a little more ground clearance for the undercarriage. Will be adding skid plates and changing the bumper. Want to stick with orig. sized tires due to cost.
Thanks,
Jerry

Message: The torsion bar will lift the front of the truck about 1 1/2" and yes after time it will wear on the front end. But if you get your front end aligned right afterward then the tires wont wear funny
