God my hands hurt...ive got more cuts and bruises than a....ok i don't know. but man that steering extension was a pain in the but..at least until we borrowed my friends, dads dremil tool that is...slid right on after that...the outer front bumper brackets and getting the lower fan shroud out were a hassle too but besides that it went smoothly. Now I just gotta make an apointment to get the suspension lift put on!!!!

I feel your pain man, i went through the same experience as u did. Started at 8 am and finished at 8 pm. Spend nearly 4 hrs on the steering extension alone, and about 3 hrs on the lower shroud. The "stubborn" parts :) Next day i tried to drive it, the steering wheel would not turn fully. Ended up i inserted the steering extension bolt the wrong way :) Oops...i learned.

You shouldn't have to if you don't have the fan sitting on the engine...that is the reason to cut the shroud. i saved it so maybe it will go on later but I was just too frustrated....i just left the lower part of the shroud off...oh...and the fan was hitting the radiator hose but by then it was 10 pm so I just bent the edges of all the blades back till it cleared by about a centimeter The steering extension is the reason it took me two days...at first the column wouldn't connect to the extension then the extension wouldn't go back on the gearbox...a dremel tool fixed that in about 10 seconds...just had to clean up the bottom edges of the adapter so it still fits tight. I plan on going with three more suspension plus whatever the 33's will give me...I love the extra height but it looks kinds goofy to me so I wanna get that other lift on pretty soon...probably next week during spring break. Anyways...well worth it...especially for the money!

You bent the blades to clear the hose by a centimeter? That's taking a big risk. Suppose u hit a huge pot hole, that's gonna jolt the engine and hose a little....let's say about a centimeter ;)....and ur gonna have coolant all over. Better relocated that hose. It's funny cuz i didn't have any close encounters with the hoses.

Yeah....i'm not too worried about it cuz everyone said the radiator extender didn't really give that much more clearance...and Ive tested the flex of the fan out on it too...i guess i'm just asking for trouble but I would have too really hit something hard for it too do that. Just one of the many things (like the outer front bumper brackets) that I'll probably take care of in the next couple weeks but for now it should be fine.

I left the outer front bumper brackets off of mine too. I also said that I would put them on in the next week. Well, it's been several months now and they still aren't on.

yeah...i guess if it ever sags I will put them on :)...they are actually half on I put them on the frame just didn't feel like making room to bolt them onto the bumper...so I guess I can't lose them :)...the only thing that is getting on my nerves is the steering bumping on the engine mount...i filed some of the mount down by hand and it took most of it away but it still does it about half the time...better than all the time but still...just got tattoos on my shoulders so I don't think I'm gonna be crawling under there in the next week but when I am all healed I'll try to file some more off.

They must have either shifted the location of the engine mounts or the steering column after 97 because mine isn't even close to touching it. Lucky for me.

Hey Ric, 33"x12.50 bfgoodwrich all-terrains w/ 15x8" eagle 589's on a 3" body lift will work fine. That is the same setup that I have. You will have to raise your torsion bars a little and do some minor trimming and they will work fine.

Just made my appointment to get my suspension lift put on this friday!!! Now that is something to look forward too.
97...maybe the fact that I have a 4.7 and u have a 5.2 has something to do with the fan and engine mounts...different engine different mounts.

ha...just got my truck back with the fabtech kit on and the 33's. I did the trimming beforehand according to the pics on Tallquad's site but I actually looked at the pics again and I over trimmed a bit...oh well better too much than too little...i have had a smile on my face ever since I picked it up...before the suspension lift the body lift looked really funny to me but now with the suspension I hardly notice the frame...now I just need to take pictures!

I have no originality when it comes to that...33x12.5 bfg mts on 15x10 eagle 589's...but they still look sweet. Now I want to drive all day long...everytime I go into a building I turn around one last time to look at her...it's funny too because I do it subconciouslly.
