Message: I ordered and recently received the front 2" leveling springs for my 2000 Dak, 4.7. I plan to have them installed by the end of the month - I did not get the "kit", which adds the shocks, as the Fabtech shocks are not of high quality. I installed Bilsteins all the way around a week ago, and they are SUPER!! Firm, but not stiff; very controlled ride - highly recommend. The Edelbrock IAS monotubes are highly rated on this site, as well.
Back to the springs - Fabtech 2" are a one size fits all proposition - that is, there is no allowance for the weight of the V8 vs the V6 engine. So, from what I am told, expect about 1 1/2" of lift if you have an 8 cyl.
The good news is that you don't have to replace the A arms with the 2" front end lift and can use standard length shocks. Drive the truck about 75 miles after springs are installed before you get the necessary alignment - this gives the springs a chance to "settle".
Hope this helps.

Message: Sorry - didn't see the 2nd half of your question. Wheels/Tires?
Right now I am running the original 28" tires and have about another 8 thousand miles left on them. From my research I know you can run a 30" tire with the 2" (or 1 1/2") lift, and most folks here will tell you that a 31" tire will "fit".
You have to match your tires to the gear ratio you are running, in my opinion - at least take it inrto consideration.
If you are running 3.55's I would stick VERY close to the 28" tire. If you are running 3.90's or 4.10's (I'm running 4.10's) you can go with the 31" tires fine. If you increase your tire size significantly - say go to a 31" - you need to be aware that the stock wheels have, I think, a 5.5" setback - you may have to go with wheels with less setback to avoid serious rubbing. Wheels are not my area of expertise - others here can help with the setback issue.
I have the 4.7 V8 - it has little low end torque and I pull a boat. When I replace my tires I will go with Michelin Cross Terrains in the 265x70x15, a 29.6" tire. I could go with 31's (perhaps even 32's if I didn't mind rubbing the fenderwell on hard turns) but for my application, it would not be a good idea. If I had the 5.9 with gobbs of low end torque, my gear ratio or tire size, while still important, would not be as crucial to the overall performance required of my application.
Hope this gives you a little food for thought.
BTW, IMHO, the best upgrade you can make for your Dak, if it runs with 3.55's, is to get rid of them.
Best wishes,
MD

Message: MD... Most can run 30" with 2 inches??? Man, i have a 2wd, and no lift whatsoever, and i run 30" easily with no rubbing at all!!! This always cracks me up when people say that "maybe" you can run 31's with 2-3 inches of lift. I just laugh... i actually think i could run 31's with no lift on mine... anyway... just lettin you know

Message: Tex - read my reply again - I said most will tell you that you can run 31's. Litterally everyone acknowledges 30"s are no problem at all.

Message: Sounds like you put all of this on, and sounds like we have the same truck --4x2 QC 4.7 V-8. I am thinking about the 2" in the front and add-a-leaf in the back. How did this work on yours?
