Subject: 33's with Stock Wheels?

I couldn't find this specific info on prior threads: What is the backspacing on the factory aluminums? I have 16x8's which should have the same backspacing as the 15x8's. Also I may be pickin up a used set of American Eagle 15x8's(AR Baja look-a-likes) for a very good price and the back spacing is 3.25(according to AE's website) where the Black Wheel Gang's rims are like 3.75 or something? I guess where all this is heading is, I am ordering 33x12.50 XT's and trying to figure what wheels I will be using until springtime when I'll have some extra $$ to get what I really want. Do you know if the XT's on stock rims will be OK and rub the frame/bumper badly or would the AE's be better? If the tires will fit on the stockers, will go with the 305/70-16's and get new wheels in the springtime for the wider stance.

I also can't find the spec for factory rim. But my stock 15x8 rims are close to the American racing rims that I have now. They have a 5.5 backspacing. The Eagle 589, I had with a 3.75 would rub with my BFG Mud TA/KM, 32X11.50. If you can get to a wheel shop. Have the shop test fit the tire and wheel combo before you buy it. Then you can get a idea on what will work for you. Or you can......
1) stay with a 32" tire and a close to stock backspacing around 5.5
2) Go with a 32" tire and 3.75 with some rub.
3) OR go Balls out with the 33" and minor fender trimming.

I just put some 285/75-16 A/T's on the stock wheels for now, it looks good with no rubbing:) Had to get rid of those "little" 265/70-16's. Once the Rancho lift comes out, I'll throw that on and upgrade to 33x12.50's XT's and a good aftermarket wheel. Thanks for your responses.

****** TIRES FOR SALE ******
Anyone want a set of Goodyear RT/S 265/70-16's with only 9K on them? They are like new, make me an offer I can't refuse or I'll be forced to put them with all the other Stock Parts from my truck. Maybe I'll put them on the For Sale Board...

You don`t need any brake conversion dude, they will fit just fine.

There are a number of people running 15s on Daks that came stock with 16s. The brakes are the same , the only difference is the 03s have rear discs , and I`m pretty sure 15s will still work with them also.

Has anyone had any problems running 15's on the 02. I asked my local tire shop and they said it wouldnt work cause Dodge switched the brakes on the dakota in the middle of the 02 production year. Sounds kinda funny to me but im just trying to make sure before I spend that much money.

Anyone interested in buying four BRAND NEW Goodyear Wrangler MTR's? They are size 285.75 R16 (equivalent to a 33x11.50) and have not been used at all.

(if you want) The tires also come with four brand new 16x8 factory wheels from Dodge. These rims are in flawless condition as well.

I am selling this package because I have to trade my Dakota in for a car, and I don't really plan on fitting 33 inch tires on it. So take advantage of this deal because I intend to sell them at a bargain price. If you are interested please email me with questions/comments and I would be more than happy to reply. More pictures are available as well.
