Message: I am going to get the fabtech universal prerunner bar or the ori bar. My questions is how hard is it to drill the holes in the front bumper to mount it? I am always nervous about drilling on my truck. Also I would like to know the cheapest place to buy one, I have found the ori at orw for $133.99(black).

Message: I've been looking for a chrome prerunner bar for a while but I don't think Fabtech has chrome. I think Westin has it. But from what I've read here in the past there might be a little problem with a 3 inch body lift. I guess there's always modding it.
Wouldn't want any other!

Message: i bought the fabtech bar in sept and put it on my durango it was 125$ from truckperformance.com. it took me about 3 hours to completely finish,. an 1hr to prep the truck for line up and hole drilling it looked good but after this winter the coating was cracking and rusting but i dont see any problems if you live were theres no snow or salt. one other thing the thing shakes like crazy if your off roading or going over rough roads . right now iam almost finished making a stainless steel one that bolt directly to the frame. it looks very close to the one on the chevy tahoe on off road unlimited's web site . when iam finished with it ,should be in the next day or so i would be happy to show pictures of it. but as far as the universal bar goes its not hard at all just make sure you drill pilot holes first and use masking tape on the bumper when you drill to avoid any unessasary scraches.

Message: Hey Perpetrate, nice truck. I take it you just bolted the bar on your bumper. I guess that works with a black bumper but mine's chrome. If I put one on I'd like to have it bolted on like a cattle guard. But be a prerunner type.
Wouldn't want any other!

Message: i have designed a prerunner bar that bolts to the frame under the bumper. this was an experiment due to the fact of the problems i was having with the universal ones, they look good but dont look complete and they shake real bad when off road. the one i have made is designed off my 99 durango and i think it should fit the 97 thu present dakotas, durangos if the front of the frame stayed the same after 99 . i will have pictures soon and would appeciate any opinions on the design , and for the brakets that bolt to the frame ive drilled two sets of holes for trucks that have the 3 in body lift. i did this design because i really like the look and because i cant find any company that sells one that bolts to the frame to prevent the shaking. if i get the ok on the design i wouldnt mine making a few of them for people.

Message: Jason,
I wouldnt mind seeing your idea. I dont know why there isnt an after market company that makes a nice pre-runner bar for Dakotas.

Message: Perpetrate, I like your pre-runner bar but you have to take it off to change the light bulbs in the turn signals. I can deal with that, so that is no big deal.
Jason, I am really interested in seeing your design. Please post some pictures of it when you can.

Message: I just remove the whole bumper to get to the turn signal bulbs. Even with the body lift I get very little vibration translated to the lights even off road. I am planning on adding 4 more light tabs to the top of the bar and adding a skid plate and removing the lower plastic fascia.
Bought it from OffRoadWharehouse.com
