Subject: Body Lift Done IP: Logged
Message: Finally finished my body lift tonight...10 hours. Looks good, now I just have to figure out what to do with the wheel wells, and then order my meats. I have decided to go with Kelly Safari MSR's 285/75/16. I wish the PA directions were a little bit clearer, got frustrated with the brake bracket, made my own, and skipped a step, forgot to take out the spare tire rod for lowering it. That was the only casualty, but I was able to bend it back and all is well now. Does anyone know of nerf bars that attach to the body vs. frame, I need to hide the frame now.

Message: Congrats on getting it done. The lift was the second best mod that I've done to the truck...the best was the gear swap to 3.92s. Riding higher gives the truck a whole new attitude. And I know what you mean on the brake bracket...if I hadn't talked Hawkeye into letting me sponge off his expertise (and his Dad's custom bracket) the front brake thing would have set us back a couple of hours at least.
On the nerf bars...I've only done a half-hearted search for ones that would work and I came up dry. I started looking about a week before I left for Korea so I didn't dig really hard. But I'd imagine there's got to be a way to cut off the stock nerf mounts and then weld them back on with an extension so it would work. I'd look harder at doing something like that but my truck is on the other side of the world right now.

Message: Smittybilt makes nerfs that are body mounted. I really like mine, nice frame hiding and easy to install.

Message: Look at the nerf bars from n-fab. They are frame mount, but the main bar sits VERY close to the frame. Thsi would hide the frame from external view.
