Message: Nice! Can't wait to get the Rancho lift installed, especially after seeing yours with the same setup as I will have. What size/brand/offset of wheels/tires are you running there? If you have any closeups of the lift itself, it would be great if you could email them to me to check out, Bobolama2@yahoo.com, Thanks! Bob.

Message: 97_blk_dak,
What Wheels and tire combo are you running?
I'm running 32's on a 15x10, 6x4.5, 4.625 offset.
If i get any larger tire it will rub under compression. I was hopeing to fit some 33's on
there but, I'd have to crank the crap out of
my T-bars. The 32's rub slightly under
compression.And i need to ditch the 3:55's
and get some 4:10's... Hop

Message: I like the 10's too.. but, they rub when compressed with 32x11.50's.. Or the ones i have do.. To run anything more than 32's i need to ditch the 3:55's.. It just barely barks the tires now.

I have no trouble with my 3.55's and 33's. But I do have a 4.7 though. ;-) :-D

Mine will roast them on wet roads and power braking. It's just hard to keep up with those sports cars form light to light..
I love to look down at the sports cars and laugh when they get spanked by a lifted truck.. heh

Message: Tx-Hop, I have 33x12.50x15s on 15x8 Eagle Alloy 589s with 3.25 backspacing. Under hard compression and turning, I still rub a little even with my T-bars cranked and a little trimming, but I think that is only because my backspacing is so low. Being that your 3 inches higher than mine, you should be able to move up to the 33's and just crank your T-bars a little. If you haven't touched the T-bars yet, you should be able to get at least an inch to an inch and a half with some room left over. That should compensate for the difference in tire size.

The higher the number the more thry stick out right? I'm thinking that i could get something in a different backspace and get away with taller and wider tires.
Hawk: Still do! Glen and I hang out in his chat room.. www.uberlame.com. They have a link there to get into chat.

15 x 10's are tough to clear. Even if you get 5.5" of backspacing like the stock rims they are 2" further out then the stock 15 x 8's so they rub the frame and the bumper. Less than 5.5 keeps them off the frame but makes them swing into the fender more. Switch to 8's with 4.5 or 4.625 backspacing and you can run 35's with the bars cranked a little.

Message: 4wDakota is right. You have about the best backspacing. Less will make you rub the fenders more, and a higher backspacing will cause more rubbing on the frame. 4.5 to 5.0 seems to be about in the middle. It is the 10" wide rims that are causing the problem. I wish it was easier to fit the 15x10's because they really help spread the tire out and look really good.

Message: Tx-Hop - Did you install the Rancho yourself or did you have a shop install it??
I'm gonna be getting a Rancho hopefully in April and I was thinking of doing the install myself. I'm just curious how difficult it is to install and if there are any modifications I'll have to make to existing parts on my truck.
Also, I've heard recently from 2nd hand sources that lifting my Dak and putting 33's on it might not be a good decision. The word they're spreading is that the Dak's can't handle the larger tires and that they had to continuously replace parts on the front end. Now, granted, one of the individuals has a dak with a 5.5" suspension and 3" body lift (I'm thinking the 5.5 was either a Skyjacker or Whiplash). I have not spoke to these individuals personally so I'm not 100% sure of what problems they've encountered. Anyone have any feed back on any possible problems I may encounter??
By the way Tx, your truck looks real good!! Seeing yours makes me want to consider going with a body lift also..

Message: Cuffy: I had a shop do it. I don't have the time
or tools to do it at my APT. Lil things i can do.
But, when it came to this i let a shop do it. I'm
sure if you had a weekend and a car to go get
parts in, you could prolly do it. When they tore
mine down i had them replace everything on the
front end. Balljoints, tierod ends, bushings,
pads, rotors, calipers, spindles.. and mis other
stuff..
Thanks for the input on wheels guys, I guess i
could always buy another set of wheels and tires.
Keep the ones i have for street and buy a set of
swampers for the trail.
