Subject: PA 3" kit and tailpipe?
IP: Logged

Message:
First off, what an awsome site. I just traded my WS6 Trans Am for a 1998 5.2 4x4 SLT ext cab Dak, and so far I love it. I had the local muffler shop toss on one of my old Borla XR-1 race mufflers on it with 3" exhaust and sounds sweet. My question is I am going to be installing the PA 3" body lift this comming week and was wondering if the tailpipe is going to be in the stock location (3" lower), or will I have to have it redone. Also with the stock 15x8's will 33x11.5's pose a problem/ Thanks all.

Yep, you should have waited. Now you will have to move it unless you like it like that. Probably not.

Mine looks fine. Before the lift I always thought the tailpipe looked like it was too close to the body anyway. Just a personal preference.

I just had my exhaust redone recently and because of the hitch, he couldn't get the pipes as close as they were before, but was able to get them pretty close. You can check out my pics to see how they hung right after I put on my lift.
And the 33x11.50s should work fine on the stock rims. There are several here that are running 33x12.50s on the stockers.

I found time to get around to do the lift. Took about 5hrs. Everything went really smooth. I don't care much about how the directions were layed out and explained. I used a all tread and coupler for the 4 wheel drive linkage thank goodness its a 98 instead of a 2k. Very agressive stance now. I ordered 15x8 598's and 33x12.5's. I hope I dont have alot of trimming to do. The tailpipe looks fine, it had me worried, but it worked out. Thanks for the input.
