I wonder what kind of testing Whiplash has done on their lifts - I mean, anyone could make a homebrew lift kit if they wanted.

I'm just wondering of my front wheels are gonna snap off if I ride over curb. (Not that I do that).

Another question is - Why don't they make a 3-5" lift. If they are such engineers, it should not be a problem since they already cleared 10. Sounds like they just went right around the sterering probs instead of designing for them.

One last sterotypical observation - cooming from Cali, they probably are more concerned with looks rather than functionality anyways.

This is what I recieved from whiplash about their lift. I asked them about having to switch axles and if that was they only lift for the dodge.

MJH -
If the dodge lift that you are referring to is the Dakota/Durango lift, yes, we only currently make a 10" kit that allows a 36" tire. As for your axles in the front as long as they are still in good shape there is no reason to put new cv axles just due to our lift. Once we get more pictures they will be on the web site for you to see. Thanks for the questions. Corey - Whiplash Suspensions

I don't drive a Dodge I still like Whiplash.I don't see why their insurance problems and all of that stuff going on makes their lift's bad.I live in NV but I have been to their shop in cali and they build some sick ass trucks.I heard that their shop got shut down, but theirs a place down the road from there that makes the lifts. They're still going to make the lifts just under a diferent name. That's what I heard from someone who lives down there.

Just my 2 cents about Riprash susp. I directly know 2 people who have had the same problems with them (not sent or missing parts incl. nuts and bolts AND major parts of the kits! Also no instructions and very bad customer service) These kits were for a 99 RAM and an 01 HD CHEVY not for the DAK , but I`m sure you can expect the same level of quality for all!

With all this talk about how bad Whiplash was I just had to know for myself. There are several trucks running around here with their lifts so I caught up with 3 of them and had a chat. All of them raved about their lifts, and I must say the lifts look very very sharp and durable. Not just the way they are built but painted and finished. I have installed everything from fabtech to rancho and I must say this lift is showtruck quality. Enough of that, anyways I asked all three how they were treated and only one had theirs delivered with a missing part which with one phone call was shipped and recieved the next day. I have to say that after seeing this lift up close I really want one. I just don't know if I want the everyday hassle of climbing in and out of 10 more inches of height. Don't take my word for it though, flag someone down that has one, everyone loves to talk about their rig, ask them what they think of them. Warning though, when you pull your dak alongside that lashed ride, let's just say it's humbling!

But is it just good for show? The ones I have talked to tht loved theirs are only show trucks. The ones that go off road have not been as happy. I have just read some really bad things from off roaders about them. I could care less about a show truck. Thats just me though. Depends on what your wants and needs are.

Ok..after seeing that Durango with the 10 inch and Scotts old truck both running 38 tires. I'm definetly getting that whiplash "10" suspension. I think I need about another month and a half to save for the extra cost of the gears. Junes the date. I do mostly city driving. Do you all think I should get the 4:88 or the 5:13 gears?

Hey Jeremy

I was thinking about that lift too. I'm torn truthfully. I can't seem to find anyone who has a Dakota with the whiplash or the 9.5 truck-n lift to compaer. I know scott was saying he had problems with the alignment on his truck-n 5.5 lift (w/ 3in body lift) because of the control arm bolts. And from the pics of the Whiplash suspension it looks like they completly replace those (like the Fabtech lifts). And I like the Dual shock thing and a few other goodies it comes with.

Ok..you be the gunnie pig for the truck-n 9.5 lift and I'll do it for the 10' whiplash lift and we can compare this for everyone else.

I am for a total parts lists for both companies because I want to see exactly what's the same and whats different about too.

well i think that w/ my 3" body and the 9.5 i could set on top of a set of 39.5s easy.at least from what i've seen of that 10" 3" bodied darango. as far as the dual shocks you can buy a dual shock kit at almost any 4 wheel drive center.i'm hoping i'll ge it within the next month or so.

Hey Quadman,

Are you going to do the lift Whiplash lift as well? I've decided I'm definetly going to do it. I just need to find someone to put it on for me. 4WheelParts is here in Austin, Texas but I'm not sure if they'll install it for me. I'm going to go there tomorrow and find out. Anyone, know of a place in the Austin area besides them?

I wanted to wait and save all the money but
maybe, I'll just buy the lift, tires, rims and put the gears on my credit card. I'm already dying of anticipation. I hate using credit though.

Bill

Where is everyone from? I was just wondering because I was laughing out loud at what I was reading!
You all hit Southern California on the head! I honestly can't remember when I have seen a truck lifted level. they are ALL Calied, (skyed in the front and almost stock in the back) tyhat was why the Durango looked lower in the back. It is not uncommon to see a superduty or silverado on 40's. Just the other day I saw a Silverado HD duelie on 38's(yes, all six tires). I know some guy that has a superduty quadcab F-250 on 40's he said he spent close to 60 G's customing out his truck! I just wanted to comment on the 10" whiplash. I haven't heared much about those, but I know that all the lift shops down here are pretty shady. Good Luck

The so called "CALi look" is mainly done on Pre-runners (2wd lifts...) The 4by Durango looks higher in the front because they don't make a higher block to fit the rear end...and as you can see, someone took the pic down and in the front of the truck.

Hey Jeremy,

Thanks for the tip about BnCOffroad. I'll check them out tomorrow. I use to live in Orange County CA. I've been to Fresno a few times. I used to also live in Montery at Fort Ord when I was stationed there. I've only been hear in Texas about 16 months now. It's cool, but I really miss the beach. I'm still waiting on my email reply from both lift companies to compare the parts but from what all I've been reading and looking around at a few other web sites, 85% of the people seem satisfied with the Whiplash so that's my choice. As soon as I get the emails I'll post all the parts.
