Subject: not again....:( IP: Logged
Message: Began feeling some rattling under the truck for the past week or two. Took it to the shop and they showed how the shocks were just dangling on the mounts. Apparently fabtech's bushings wore out causing all that rattling. i called fabtech and they said this is unheard of, i also explained all my problems that i had with the kit up to now, and they said for me to get a pix of all the damamge, pix of the truck, and pix of the defective parts. I am assuming they are gonna help me work out my truck, unlike truckin suspension. SO far, they agreed to send me new shock bushings so hopefully getting those bushings in won't be a toughie.
Hey guys, check your fabtech shocks..see if you can twist them sideways..if you can, u're in need of bushings.
Will fabtech's upper A-arms work with their two inch lift kit? Or must we have the factory arms?

Message: Spoke with fabtech today and they were nothing but HELPFUL. They cooperated and were willing to help me out for every damage i had. They asked a million questions (which was good for them to research their mistakes) and gave me some pointers on what to do. i explained about the bump stops going flat from constantly banging on the frame and they said i was probably sold a 3 inch fab kit for the v-8 because their springs are a little longer and stiffer. I am assuming this is why the bump stops are worn. They also explained to me about what their kit was made for and it's limits. It was basically designed to handle 31 inch tires and up to 10.5 inches wide. It was also designed for 8 inch wide rims. Larger than these specs will cause abnormal wear of the kit. So far, i haven't gone any higher than that. Of course, we can put full blame on the wheel spacers i have. That's why i'm ditching the spacers and getting the 589's for once. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Message: They only said that the kit requires 3.75 or less backspacing. I didn't get down to details on that subject. Right now i only have about 1 inch or less of space between teh bump stops and frame...soon as the bump stop is worn completely, the ball joint will be hitting the frame instead. It's a close one. And yeah i only have a v-6....and if you go to www.4x4cyberstore.com..you prob can find out how much the coils are.

Message: chaximus,
What size are the wheel spacers and are you thinking of selling them? If so, how much? Do you think wheel spacers in general are a problem or is it in combination with the fabtech lift? I have the 3" PA lift so suspension is still stock and I wouldn't expect it to be a problem.

Message: Some people out there would hush up and sell you the spacers but as for me, i'm not gonna sell them to anyone unless they REALLY want them. i don't want anyone going through the problems i have, unless they have contacts with bill gates and can afford anything :) As far as i know, the spacers were my main problem-causing trouble-maker. i have the 2 inch wheel spacers.
