Message: i've noticed that there seem to be as many people with 2wd's on this board as 4-by's... this isn't a bad thing by any means, i think it's really cool. it's just kinda weird to me, not many people up north go that route (snow gets ya, lol) so hey, keep it real, and happy offroading! (just puttin' my $.02 in)

Message: 2wd setups can be just as capable off-road as 4wd...plus better gas milage and a cheaper starting price.
up north, well, snow and ice aren't quite the same as mud...i notice that as well, I go up to WI every winter (live in TX) and all that is up there are 4x4's

Message: Brian,
2wd setups are "capable" offroad, but not near as capable as 4WD (maybe my definition of offroad differs from others) ... my 5.9 gets as good or better gas mileage than a 5.9 R/T ... but you are right about the price thing! ;o)

Message: i know it depends what sort of offroading you do... which is why prerunner's all seem to be 2wd and stuff... yes, 2wd are good in most situations, but i went with a guy who didn't have a front driveshaft (he was in the process of swapping axles) but had a locked rear end, and we still had to pull him up some hills and stuff. it was in a wrangler too, so that couldn't have helped. but he had a lift and 33" bfg a/t ko's. but anyways, they are cheaper, and easier to lift, and less to break =) and all, to each his (or her) own!
