Like the subject says, I finally have pics of my Dakota after the lift. Go to my photo album and let me know what you think. When the tires and wheels arrived, they were already mounted with the white lettering facing in. I'm thinking about getting them swithced so the white lettering faces out. What do you guys think would look better? I can't decide.

I still have install the front gap gaurds and have new mounts welded so I can remount my step bars to cover up the little bit that the frame shows and to remount my Safari bars.

Also, I went to Home Depot to buy a coupling nut and some all-thread to make an extension in the 4x4 shifter, but don't know what size I need. Does anyone know the size?

SWEEET!!!

Very nice job 97_blk_dak!! I think that you should keep the white letters in on the tires, but that's just my opinion. It would look good white-out too because of your decals, it's your call. The size of the nut/all-thread is 5/8" ?? I THINK. All you have to do is pop the cap off the top of the shifter and take the nut that holds it on with you, then you CAN'T get it wrong.

They are 15x8 Eagle Alloy 589's with a backspacing of 3.25. I had a rubbing problem at full turn on the outside fenderwell, but after a little trimming, that was taken care of. They sell for about $95-$100 each.

Nice truck. How is that custom grill working out for you? I was looking into getting something like that on my black dakota, but was wondering how you pop the hood. Haven't done too much research yet, hate looking when I have no money. :)

I have been very pleased with the look of the grill inserts. As far as how to open it, a hood latch came with the kit. It has a lever that hangs down that you pull from underneath the grill to open it.

blk dak, what brand of body lift did you use, because i know that with my PA body lift kit, i got a 3" extension in the kit for the shifter. we welded it on because it would be less likely to break later on.

I got the PA lift too and it did have an extension in the kit but I don't have access to a welder. So I just used the Home Depot fix and it took about 10 minutes. It looks just like it did before the lift. I don't use the shifter much, so this way should work fine.

Yes, they are the SS grill inserts and I believe they were about $130-$140 for the upper set and about $60 for the lower valance. They are a little pricey, but I have been very happy with them. I just found a similar set that is made by Smittybuilt but I can only find them for the upper grill. They have them at truckperformance.com for $71. Here is a picture of those.

I think Monday I will remount my Safari bars and PIAA lights, but unfortunately, the way my Westin nerf bars mount, there is no way to relocate them any higher. It looks like I am gonna have to buy a new set of nerf bars.

I haven't found a good place to take it off road since I put on my lift, but hopefully I'll be able to let you know by the end of the month.

As far as the nerf bars, I paid $250 for them new about 8 months ago. Would be willing to sell if someone would like to make me an offer. Might even be selling the Westin Safari bars and the PIAA lights too.

They actually have more of a yellowish tint to it. Here is a pic I found on the internet of them on with hyper-white bulbs in the headlamps.

The reason I was going to sell my Safari Bars was because I was going to get chrome nerf bars and the black Safari bars wouldn't match. But I think I am now just going to buy some black nerf bars so that I can still use my Safari bars and lights. As far as the nerf bars, I would be willing to sell for about $150 plus shipping. I'll go and take some close-up photos of them and post them here later today.

When you say body kit, do you mean body lift? If so, mine is the one made by Performance Accessories. I'm pretty sure that they make a kit for your 2001 Dakota. I don't know how much it would be to have a shop install it for you because I did mine myself. They are really quite easy to do, they just take awhile. It took me the better part of a weekend to complete. I ordered my lift, gap gaurds, wheels, and tires from www.4wheelparts.com at the same time because the offered a larger discount than if I was to buy them seperately. Plus, they don't charge you for shipping and the tires came already mounted on the wheels. I paid about $1100 for all of it.
