Subject: Modified genII suspension lift IP: Logged
Message: I am thinking of installing the Trailmaster 4" suspension lift on my 95 Dak, but I dont want to run a big offset wheel. (I dont like the looks of the wheels sticking way out past the fenders.) I am running 15x8 Durango wheels and would like to use them with the Trailmaster lift but I cant because of the issue with the top balljoint extension the lift uses instead of relocating the upper control arm. My idea is to weld another upper control arm/shock mount 4"lower on the frame. I think I would also need to weld an extension to the frame because there may not be enough room to drop down 4" but Im not sure. Anyone else done this or thought about it? I think it would work, am I missing anything? Thanks guys, Dan

Message: I was thinking the same thing. the trailmaster lift needs arim with a special off-set. If it had a drop down bracket for the upper a-arm then it would work fine with stock rims. I wa thinking of buying a truckn suspension lift and try to make it fit on my 92 dakota. I know there will be some modifications, but i still think that it would fit. I got some frame specs and the GenII and III are very simi;lar in spec. I was hopeing that some one already tried to put on a Gen III lift on a Gen II.

Message: I am not familiar with the genIII lifts. Do they drop upper arm down, or does it use a spacer up top also? I like your idea craig.

Message: all gen III lifts use a drop down bracket to lower the upper a arm. the only modification to the Gen II would be to relocate the sway bar and try to replace and fit the Genn III center link. they use a r/p style inner tie rods. other than that it should fit. But I don't want to be the first guy to try. if it doesn't work it would be a very expensive error.

Message: I hear ya craig, I dont think I want to be the first guy to try it either. Maybe if I had a lifted genIII next to my genII to really make some comparisons. I think the upper control arm mounts are slightly different, but very close. Is the truckn susp. kit much better than the Trailmaster?

Message: truckn suspension lift looks better than the tuff country lift. i saw a truck with the tuff country lift and the drop bracket for the upper a-arms were bending right were the a-arms mount to the bracket. on the other side the bracket was cracked. It looks too flimsy. i just might take a chance witht the gennII lift on a gen II truck. I'll have to see what kind of return i have this year.

Message: Dsnny what kind of modifications do you have on your truck? I have a trailmaster 3" body lift. I'm running 31x12.5x15 boggers on 8" american eagle rims. I was thinking of getting a 4.5" body lift. I talked to a suspension manufacturer at the SEMA show and they said that they would make it for my truk. all i have to do is find the thread size and the lenght of the 3" body lift bolts. i could probably run 33. My truck never touches the dirt so i'm not worried about the extreme body lift.

Message: Craig, all I have done is cranked the t-bars,a PA 2" body lift and a set of 31-10.50 BFG AT's on later model 15x8 Dakota wheels. I want 33s with a susp lift but want to run the wheels I have. Dan
