Message: I just thought I'd give everyone a run down of the lifts for the 2000+ models..
I contacted Skyjacker they are quite nice and the guy I talked to has a Toyota that he's trying to get them to make a lift for .. *We NEED to beat him :-)* anyway if we can get a list together of I mentioned about 20 people it might peak there intrest of building a list... If you think about it 20 isn't many we have that many that watch these boards daily. Anyway if I can e-mail them a list of 20 names & e-mail addresses it might get them intrested enough to get them working on it.
Next I called Superlift they said they wern't working on it have no plans to work on it. I asked if I e-mailed them a list *Superlift cut me off mid sentance* he said it doesn't matter that's not how it works...
I called Rancho they said that if I FAX them a list of the people I know that want the lift it might help.. and then again it might not.
I'm going to call Whiplash next but there website at least doesn't look all that promising.
Point of this post..
If I get like 30 people to e-mail me w/ names/e-mail/phone numbers what ever they feel comfortable with.. I can forward that on. My other idea was if you don't want to send me your info then e-mail me and ask for Rancho, Skyjacker's info so you can send it to them directly. Although I think one big list is better then a bunch of small ones.. I'll take what ever works right about now.
Then there is body lift.. we all know there is a 3" body lift that can be installed in one weekend with out any major problems *yet* which would let you run at least 32's..
Just a run down of the Lifts that I could think of..

Message: Hmmm ... Superlift said that?? Weird. They told me they were working on something for later this year. Guess it all depends on who you talk to!
Anyway, I'd love to include my name on your list. Just gonna be a day or two to save up the pennies for a pricey susp lift now. Gotta swallow the bill for wheels & tires first. I'm assuming it will still be months before they'd get around to producing something. To be honest, I'd have a little warmer feeling about the whole deal if kits were released for a few months with no problems before I lay down a wad of cash on a "prototype" kit. Know what I mean?

Message: Question about suspension lifts...
I have a 2000 Dak, but this question can pertain to any year with IFS. Does the lift lower the front diff and/or a-arms... or are there new a-arms?
I'm just trying to picture this in my head. (I realize there is nothing out for the 2k/up yet... but the design should basically be the same, except for the rack.)

Message: RJKobbeman,
The diff and A-arms are lowered. The kit comes with a maze of brackets to lower this. One main piece is a bracket which holds the diff and is the mounting point for the lower a-arms.
Check out:
http://contagious-racing.8m.com/
go to technical, then 5.5 Tuff country lift. It goes through the install process.
Just a little FYI, for all you rack and pinion guys. Buy a 97-99 kit and install. Buy a steering pump and power steering motor off of a 97-99 (Local dealer or junkyard) THe pump will bolt onto the motor similar to the 97-99 (except 4.7??) put I'm sure that can be fixed (the pumps may still be the same. A little time under a 97-99 4x4 should show you where to mount the motor (arm) and all you need is little fabrication of some 1/4" and 3/8" steel brackets to mount it and your done.
Hell, if I had time or the want (I have a 98 so I can LIFT) I'd build a conversion kit. Just a frame for the steering motor and whatever brackets for the pump. It could be sold as a suppliment to a 97-99 kit.

Message: Knobbyman,
I sent you an e-mail; please include my name on your list to the manufacturers. I would prefer Rancho over Skyjacker, but would purchase either one if the price is reasonable.
One thing these manufacturers need to know, is that the price of an IFS lift NEEDS to be reasonable. The $2400 price for the Witchtit lift, or Whiplash, or whatever they call it, is too much money. And 10" of lift is too much. A 3" to 5" lift would be ideal for most people, then they could combine it with a body lift of 1" to 3" for anywhere between 3" and 8" of lift, depending on what they needed.
I personally would not pay $2000 for an IFS lift. If I were going to spend that much money on suspension for my Dakota, it surely would not still have IFS.
Did you know ...
The frame rails on a Dakota are the PERFECT width for an early Bronco style coil spring / radius arm suspension.
The frame crossmember on a Dakota is in the PERFECT location for mounting the attachment brackets for stock Ford Bronco radius arms.
So find yourself an early Bronco front suspension, with a Dana 44 axle. Buy a '99 Dakota steering box. And you have a REAL off-road capable Dakota, with locking hubs, and a locking diff.
Just a thought.
Doc.

Message: I'm still amazed at the talk on this board of going back in time... by ripping out an IFS and putting in a straight axle.
If your off-road needs demand more strength than the stock IFS provides... spend money beefing up the IFS. Ripping out the front end of a new Dak and putting in an old straight axle is a shame...

Message: robert what is a shame is that companies like toyota, dodge, jeep, and chevy don't know how to make trucks with a solid platform like they use to! where are the toyota 8", dana 44's, or even the dana 60's coming strait from the factories?? you might never see a true hevy duty truck roll out of a factory under $21,000 again. i mean hell look at the jeep it still uses the strait axle, but i'm waiting to see that one go to. so before you start on downing the stait axle consept do your research and listen to all of the complaints that are coming from the people with the IFS. IFS is good if you like the road more than off roading. i'm sorry if i have hurt any ones feelings, but thats just the way i feel. have a good day you guys.

Message: Knobby, Good lookin out my brother. Put me down on the list! Don't take this the wrong way guys, but it's no secret the dakota is one belly dragging truck. No one thats serious about getting off the road should have to settle for a body lift just to get some good meats on the ground. Untill stumbling across this forum, I was even considering that route. Rancho/Skyjacker - WE ALL NEED YOU!

Message: i have a 94 v6 ext. cab dakota 4x4 with a TM 3" body and i want a suspension kit. the only company that makes it is TM 4" for $1300 which is way too much seeing how the chrystler 7.25" front end only gears to a 4.10 and being lifted that much i want atleast 36"tires. so i have been looking into custom work with a ford dana 44 front end and ford 9" rear geared at 4.56. are there any other options or if i do this are there and suggestions of what to add or upgrade.
Any info is helpful.
