Subject: Mopar M1 IP: Logged
Message: Everything that I have read says that the Mopar M1 (P/N P5007852) is for 97-02 trucks.
Does anyone know if this will fit the 03 R/T?
Thanks,
Rich

Message: It pulles harder above 3000 rpm's. I strongly suggest getting a flash to bring back some of the torque that was lost. Haven't gotten to the track yet this year to see the improvement over stock. All and all it's a decent mod but it think the flash did more.

Message: the m1 is the single plane, 2bbl intake for a multi port injection 5.2/5.9 magnum. its a pretty decent intake, from what i gather.

Message: the m1 2bbl will give 40-50 more hp and tq
in the top end than you had with a beer barrel with just these mods. ( i dyno'd).
kngen2 cold air intake.
fb 50 mm tb
mopar pcm
m1 2bbl..large turtle(there are still 3 turtles for sale at the delphi rt forum).
180 stat.
stock exhaust.
not much low end loss to speak of...mid and top much better.
add gs motorsports headers and 2.5" true duals..
truck is really starting to come around.
add 1.7 rockers, ignition upgrade, 4.56 gears...
maybe a valve body..
should be well in the 13's with traction on a good track.

Message: M1 refers to the line of Mopar Performance intake manifolds, not exclusive to Magnum engines, but also B and RB, as well as LA's. There are 3 or 4 different M1's available for the 318/360 engines, some 2v, some 4v.

Message: Assuming someone has a 360 in a Durango, Ram, or QC Dakota the M1 combined with the R/T cam will get you over 150ft-lbs more torque between the 4500 and 5000rpm mark. It needs it very much. Both the 5.2 and 4.7L engines BLOW the 5.9L away above 3500rpm. At 5000rpm a 97 5.9L only makes 60ft-lbs of torque. That's not a missprint! The Mopar Performance PCM raises the shift points from 4800 to 5500 which makes the problem even worse. Without the M1 and R/T cam, installing the performance PCM is like throwing out a boat anchor at 4000rpms.
In other words, to maximize the potential of the M1 you need to also upgrade the cam and PCM. Headers wouldn't hurt none either.

Message: Anthony
Am happy with the 50mm.
If i had to do it again i'd go FB 52mm.
as is i have plenty of low end and want even more mid-top end...should go well with a BG flash and those 5400 rpm shift points.

Message: The M1 is a single plane intake manifold, good for midrange/high rpm... On a 'stock' truck you lose some bottom end (below 2500 rpm), so not the best for towing applications or 4x4 unless you got a blower, or heads/cam to help offset the low end loss ;)
Magnum 92-95 require the EGR version, 96- and up can use the EGR version (and plug the ports, plugs are included)-- or run the NON-EGR for a cleaner installation.
These are both 2bbl versions.
There is also a 4bbl version (new style) that is a little cheaper, has the 2bbl-4bbl adapter (I personally run the 4bbl, older style, with nitrous, heads/cam/rockers).
Here's a link, http://www.socaldakota.com/m1.html
I don't have the 4bbl info up yet, but they are $390 shipped vs. $422 shipped.
I include everything needed, gaskets, install kit, new t-stat housing gasket, and waterpump by pass hose.

Message: rtdkota,
I'm guessing he is referencing a 2003 R/T....
My 2000R/T already has too much off the line torque. I know I could fix the traction problems with better tires and bolt-on traction devices, but this engine is really hurting on the top end. My 3.9L had as much torque at 5K as this thing. I'm serious. I would gladly give up 50 to a 100ft-lb of torque at 1000rpm to gain 150 at 5K. That and a transgo shift kit ought to make this thing lay rubber when it hits 2nd gear.

Message: Wiplash,
Yes I am refering to a 2003 Dakota R/T.
I put on a set of traction bars (homemade, better than you can buy) last weekend. I must say that they are a sweet mod.
I am definatly looking for more top end.
Thanks,
Rich
