Message: That is a swap I have also been thinking about.
When you tried the swap did you upgrade your injectors to the HO units? If you didn't then this is why you had pinging. The HO injectors flow 10% higher volume, so the PCM uses shorter injector pulses to compensate. If you have the standard injectors, this will result in a very lean fuel condition (pinging).

Message: If you upgrade everything to HO speceific parts it should work. The only other option is to flash the pcm to your specs with a DRB-III scan tool or have it shipped off to a firm that can update your pcm to your specs and needs which takes a while and costs around 500 or so in each case plus shipping.

Message: Are the Dodge HOs the same as the jeeps ? If so, there are some sensors that the HOs have that don't exist on the regular 4.7. Most of the torque gains come from the cam change. If you were to change everything different, you're looking at a substantial chunk of change, making the aftermarket flashes a lot more attractive.

Message: The High Output 4.7L is only an option on the jeeps and not available on the dakotas or rams as far as I am aware. As far as sensors go if your in an emissions regulated state such as california you would have like 3 o2 sensors to calibrate for fuel mixture and Cat efficiency. On some of the older model years there are knock sensors and a couple of sensors that attach to the intake manifold that I can't remember the name of. Other than that there are no real sensor changes.

Message: That's correct. The HO motor is only available on the Jeeps. Started in 2002. If you are going to attempt to run an HO PCM you will need to sort out;
1. wiring for the 2 HO knock sensors that don't exist on any model year standard 4.7.
2. the fuel injectors that are larger on the HO (as I explained in an earlier post).
If you handle these changes you should at least have a chance of running the HO PCM

Message: HO 4.7 is supposed to be available for the new Daks, but I don't know if its out yet. I've seen some claim only 250hp for the HO Dak, while the 4.7 HO Jeep is 270 hp. Haven't seen the source of the info firsthand, so I don't know who might be screwing what up ? I wouldn't expect a jeep HO pcm to work in a Dak, its not clear wich PCM is being discussed here.
