Message: Hey guys....
as some of you may know I drive about 55 miles each way to school and with some of the work I've done to my trans and engine winter driving is considerably more difficult than I expected. Even with my locker.
I have a 95 dak 4x2 with a nice little 318 and a 46 rh trans 390 gears and a lock-rite. Right now I'm running BFG Radial T/A 225-65-25's and they just aren't cutting it this winter. What would you suggest? I'm a college student so I'd like to keep them under 75 apiece if possible, but safety is a priority above price.
Thanks, Geoff

Message: For a cheap start put about 100-150 pounds of sand bags over the rear axle and see if that helps at all. Make sure your tires are not inflated too much also. Sometimes a few pounds of pressure can make a world of difference.

Message: Help me out about that size of tire. Is it like a low profile performance tire? What rim size do you have?

Message: if you realy have 25 in rims i recomend for a cheap way out is go by some 15 in rims and some all terran tires to put on it in the winter you would never find a snow tire in a 25 in rime for under 75

Message: LOL! my fault guys, the tires are 225/65/15's
if I had 25's on my truck I'd have to kick my own bass.
I have about 180 pounds of sand in the back of my truck but it doesn't really help much. I did alot of work to my engine over summer and its just that much harder to run in snow now.

Message: 235-75-15 Goodrich AT KO's are a little pricier than what you want to spend; but an excellent winter tire.

Message: That sounds a lot better. I have an answer for you now. The Firestone Town & Country Super Radial is available in one size now but it is very close to yours. It's been around forever and it's always worked great for my family since before I was even born.
