Message: Has anyone read the last Mopar Action magazine? They have done a comparison on intake manifolds for the 440. I know, we don't run 440's. Just listen! They tested 5 different manifolds and the best one was an Eldebrock Victor, not the M-1. GO FIGURE! (Back in the 80's Chrysler Power Mag. did the exact intake comparison for the 360 and the Edelbrock Victor Jr. was the best back then). The M-1 only matched the HP and torque of the VERY old Holley Street Dominator and the old obsolete Edelbrock 6-Pack intake. That doesn't sound too impressive. This M-1 they used on the 440 is basically the same M-1 we put on our 5.9/5.2's. It's just a little bigger. I'm skepticle now about purchasing an M-1.
COME ON! This thing should have blown the 6-Pack out of the water and it was only able to match the 6-Pack.
Does anyone else make an intake for the Magnum engines?

Message: A four bbl manifold that can keep up with a 6bbl is nothing to be ashamed about; but I won't slam Edelbrock. You're right that they make some great intakes, their air gap manifold for the older LA small blocks has also come out on top in tests looking for a broad range of power. Nothing for the magnums yet that I'm aware of.

Message: Not quite a direct apple to apple comparison because the carbed M1 has to be designed to move an air-fuel mixture while the efi M1 design only has to move air effeciently. I think Edelbroch is making an efi one but don't know if it's ready yet.

Message: I've been looking at the Edelbrock web site a lot lately. I'm really impressed with their 417hp/395TQ engine. The package for this engine cost less than the MP 380hp crate engine. The money you save buying the Edelbrock components more than pays for the rebuild of the short block. DC is going to have to come up with something better. Go to www.edelbrock.com and just look at the torque curve on that engine. 417hp out of a small block and the torque curve is so flat it looks like it belongs on modern DOHC engine with variable valve timing.

Message: Edelbrock is releasing a carb-application Magnum-style Air Gap intake later this year. On a side note, the M1 did better in the smallblock comparo they did a couple years ago,and bested the 6-pak nicely, but the Air Gap whipped 'em all. Only one intake made a scant few hp more, but it was way down on torque compared to the Air Gap Eddy.

Message: If your looking for intake manifold for the Mangnum, check out www.hughesengines.com. They have and handle only Mopar equipment. I do like the barrel manifolds they offer.

Message: The beer keg is a dry intake. It isn't a carburetor-type intake.
