Message: The 98 Dak's had AX-15 tranny's didn't they? Are you just looking for an upgrade, because I think you have to replace more than just the tranny main part... You can get these for around 8 or so off of ebay, but they are just rebuilt trannys.

Message: I hate to say it, but try a manual tranny from a V6 Chevy. They're more common and it's the identicle New Venture NV3500 5-speed. You can often get them cheaper too if the seller thinks it's just a V6 tranny.

Message: I'm pretty sure he like I was being serious about the viper tranny :)) T56 on here or his business or whatever has one nearly done for the Dakotas... Your looking at somewhat over $3000 though... That includes new clutch, driveshaft, bellhousing, and of course the t56 viper/cobra 6speed tranny ; ))
Like I said previously, I'm still waiting on mine to get done to ship out...

Message: So looking nice :)) How much did everything cost you, shipping and everything? I'm assuming that you put yours behind a v8 right and from the looks of your exhaust a 318? Can you tell it's driving any better? Shifts better? Got more take off? Better fuel mileage with the two overdrives? I still haven't gotten mine ordered, because the guy hasn't gotten one together yet for my truck :// Sorry about the previous buggings, I just figured you were making a joke of it or something :)) You didn't have to seriously alter anything did you?
Hey I liked your bracket pics with all the cracks and everything ; ))
Oh and thanks for the pics, that really helped to clear up some questions I had about the one I'm wanting to get...
Thanks,
Greg

Message: I have a '03 4.7.I bought the 650hp kit from keisler. I use the term "kit" loosely. There kit is not 100% yet. I am not quite done with the conversion, i only get to work on it on weekends.
The only parts i have to modify are the crossmember and the driveshaft. The crossmember needs a couple of holes drilled and a section cut out to clear the tail end of the trans, pretty easy. As far as the driveshaft is concerned, i am just going to buy a new one. The stock one is about 3 inches too long. The shifter location on the keisler setup is perfect, with no cutting of the trans tunnel necessary.
With the 650hp t-56 you get the .5:1 6th gear, so my mileage should be nice. I may end up putting 4.56's in the rear, just because i can now without sacrificing mileage
