 Subject: Rust in fuel rail

I can’t figure out where the rust is coming from, does anyone have any ideas. It is clogging the injectors causing everything from bad gas mileage to random backfires. I keep cleaning the injectors, until I can find the cause of the problem.

I could be way off base but, is your Fuel Tank Rusting? Thats where I would think it is coming from. Have you ever had a problem with water in the fuel in the past?
I have an '03 Dak, and you know, I never really looked to see if it is a metal tank or made of some other material...

Nearly all fuel tanks are plastic now... Only thing I can figure is you have a big problem somewhere and may wind up replacing or flushing entire fuel system :((
