Message: Dude, I'm just repeating what you said.
"I'd love to jump on the band wagon with this one but I have lined up next to a WRX and was down by 3 car lengths by the time I hit 2nd! Subaru makes a damn good engine, I would say more of a Porsche heritage than a VW!"
Porshe's heritage is from the VW. So to say Subaru's heritage is from Porshe is to say that it's from VW.

Message: If you guys really want to get down to it, neither RWD or FWD can even match up to AWD.
If you want complete and total performance, you'll get a WRX, or a 325ix both come standard with AWD, and then your build it up from that base.
No it isn't easy burning all 4 tires, but when you go out and pay 200 bucks for performance tires why the hell would you want to burn them.
Neither RWD or FWD are as good as they once were when that was the only thing availiable. If you want performance, traction, better cornering, more control, you'll get an AWD car.

Message: unless you want to drag race in which case the extra drive components become no better than dead weight on the wrong end of the vehicle. With proper weight transfer the front tires don't carry enough weight to be efficient drive wheels under straight line acceleration.

Message: I owned a Turbo AWD Eagle Talon. My girl friend had a Turbo FWD Eagle Talon. The FWD car had 3.7 final gear ratio while the AWD had 4.1 final gear ratio. Both were new with less than 20K miles and both were 5spds. The FWD was .3-.5sec faster than the AWD through the 1/4. M/T also confirmed the same thing. There is too much HP lost to friction and inertia in the AWD. A good FWD or RWD setup in the same car will outrun the AWD all day long. AWD is great for driving in limited traction conditions. Personaly, I'm not going to drive a nice car when the conditions on the road are less than optimal for traction. I have a beater for that. That makes the AWD useless as tits on a bore hog. Why pay more for an AWD car that is going to run slower, use more fuel, and have higher up keep cost than the same car in 2WD form?
