Subject: $52 K&N Intake.. How Too... IP: Logged
Message: I came up with a $52 K&N Intake, It took me 16 minutes to make and install on my '01 Dak 3.9 It most likely will fit on other Dak's... I put them all up on my webpage... Including pics... I know this probably isnt the best way to do it, but I have already had a bunch of people ask me how much K&N charged me for the system, guess it looks pretty pro style... The page is http://www.geocities.com/atvnut808/intake.html
I am getting about 3 miles more per gallon, and the truck has a lot better pick up and higher end power. The little thing will spin the tires off the stop light now, and everytime you hit the gas I get a nice little "pssshhh" Letting me know that the little lady is enjoying being able to breath. Go to the site, and tell me whatyou guys think! Any questions feel free to email me.

Message: yup, thats exactly what a did about a year ago, just used the stock tubing, and took the filter box out, and put a k7n filter on the tip, and mounted it.

Message: You sure did what you had to do and that's cool.
But I used this K&N filter part number RC-3320
It has a 3 inch rubber "no-hub" style end on it that clamps right down on 3 inch pipe.
Hope this helps.

Message: you are actually gonna pay to have a k&n installed? do you know how to change the filter for your house air conditioner. kuz its that easy. and if you are getting the fipk, you take off a few bolts, pull it off, and bolt the k&n on where the old one was. i hope this helps man kuz if you do have it installed then i hope ur not paying over 5 bucks to have it done. i mean seriously, im not mr do it yourselfer but it took me like 20 mins to install the fipk.

Message: are you serious? there has been 260 dolllar KN FIPKs going for 129 buy it now on ebay brand new . second your air hat is still restrictive, and the abs PLASTIC will create mustard gas when very hot. also your KN cone is tiny. wats the point of having more air if your TB is still stock same with your manifold.

Message: Derek,
We all know that the air hat is still restrictive, but it is LESS restrictive replacing the airbox, and a hell of a lot cheaper... second, ABS melting temp. is anywhere from 280-310 degrees F', which means if your intake is getting that hot, that far from the manifold, then you have bigger problems then just your intake melting, and the Mustard Gas, yah thats true. The big downside on having the ABS under the hood, is if you crash your Dak and it pushes your ABS onto your hot manifold, then you have a problem, it would probably be a breathing problem too....
Oh and matt,
I was talking about having the 40 series put on, not K&N. I hope nobody would pay more then $5 to install K&N either.
