Subject: 95 dakota stalls IP: Logged
Message: I have a 95 dakota v-6 that runs great most of the time. About 40% of the time, I will try to start it up and it will not hold an idle, instead, dying. If I depress on the accelerator a smidgen, it will hold the idle and run ok, but that means I have to have my foot on the brake whenever I try to move in low gear because I have to shift with the accelerator depress (a little), or else the engine would stay on to put the truck in gear. I put it in dodge shop and they charged me $300 to put in on the computer and replace some parts but the problem came back in a few days. I replaced all the easy stuff. Anybody else have this problem before? Thanks, Rey

Message: In reading about the iac, I thought it only affected cold starts. My problem keeps happening even after the truck has warmed up. I can run it 15 minutes, but unless I keep the accelerator slightly pressed, it will stall on idle. Could it still be the iac even though it does it whether the engine is cold or warm?

Message: Check the EGR valve if you have one. This part will cause idle problems.
