Dodge would never release such a package? I don't know if said package exists, but a company that's released such packages as: 354 Hemi, first EFI-waaaaay back in '58 (I think-all recalled, regretably, but a ballsy move), Street Hemi, Daytona/Superbird, Lil Red Express truck (the quickest accel. US production vehicle in '78), Omni GLH/GLHS, Shelby Dakota (arguably the first of the sport/muscle trucks-Lil Red not withstanding), VIPER,.... They said Mopar would never put a 360 in a Dakota, but they did. It just strikes me funny that one might think Chrysler wouldn't offer a modified Dakota package if it is even a reality. It would seem to be right up their alley.

I did see on another board, I believe it was Sport Truck magazine that did an article on the last R/T that rolled off the line. It did have modifications but I doubt it was for public sale as some of above mentioned parts are not emissions legal.

Dodge would never release such a package because its all just what we want. Don't get me wrong I would love it, It would be awsome. Take a bunch of HP parts out of the Mopar catalog and put them on a production truck. 1. headers 2. HP computer
3. R/T cam 4.R/T heads 5.M1 Intake 6. Roller rockers ect ect. They would probly emmissions problems, and probly would not offer an extended warrenty if any at all. Dream on you guys. makeing the R/T any faster won't happen, It would start cutting into the market for the SRT Ram. I don't know what a R/T would run with all the above bolt ons. Maybe 13.9???
Did I hear some one say no more R/Ts off the production line??????? thats the best news I heard
for a long time. R/Ts would start being collectable. $$$$$$$$ At least if mines not fast it will be worth some money. LOL

You're joking, right? I doubt any current or future Dakota will be considered "collectable". Unless you find someone interested in collecting heavy, underpowered, pickup trucks.

Heavy and underpowered compared to what? Theres only 1 faster truck one the market Sh!t for brains. If they stoped making R/T Dakotas they would be "collectable" If no-one here can understand that its because you probly don't own a RT or even a Dakota for that mater. Go post on a honda board if you don't like Dodge.

Lets think for a minute here genius..... If I were going to BS about owning a vehicle, don't you think I'd make it something a little more inetersting than a Dakaota RT ? I paid 22g for a loaded CC.....anyone can afford that. What's not to believe?

As far as you thinking they're going to be "collectable". Just what is it about them that will make them, and I use this term lightly,"collectable"? Would it be the single digit MPG? or maybe the blazing fast(sarcasm)1/4 mile performance? Oh yeah,I forgot...they're a "limited" production, right? lol..."limited" to whoever wants one that is...get a clue boy. If you want a "collectable" go buy a freakin Viper or Z06.....your R/T(including mine, and everyone elses)will do nothing but depreciate in value, from here on out.

Hey everyone,

I read a recent article in "Truck Trend" that features the "Modified" Dak R/T. I also posted about it on the Delphi R/T board a while back. I too thought that this R/T was available to the public with the mentioned mods:M-1 2bbl, aluminum valve covers, R/T heads, performance cam & lifter set, cat-back exhaust(which we already have....),and a fipk(cold-air intake).
But, this is just a story about an '03R/T,rc, that DC decided to mod and let the mags feature it. Big surprise.....Anyway, all they could manage in the 1/4mile was a 14.9@93mph. IMO, the mph says that it is capable of 14.40s/50s, so, that's not too bad. Just not what I'd expect to run with those mods for that kind of money-$3225. Oh well, I'll just be happy with the $2500 I've spent in bolt-ons, in addition to the $17,500 I spent on my R/T, to run 13.90's.......
As far as collectibles, I don't know about that. Some of those Dodge Omni turbos are kinda collectors items I guess...As well as the turbo-Spirits,Daytonas,TSI Conquest, etc. Maybe, in 10-20 years, the Dak R/T's will still turn some heads though...I know I'll be keeping mine. When the motor/trans starts to get tired,I'll just have to go with the flow and make it even faster! Whether I'll stroke it, supercharge it or whatever,I'll be keeping it. They're good-looking trucks that have a lot of potential IMO. -Justin

Whats the blue book on a Grand National? Little Red Express? Omni GLH? Squat --- why are they worth top dollar then? When they were produced could anyone buy one? You need to think before you open your pie hole. You don't have to spend triple digits to have something collectable. Unless you wanted a pretty boy collectable car. Only 6000 R/Ts were made in 99. Stop crying and get rid of yours if you don't like it.
Blue book on my truck is 9000.00 it has 10,500
miles on it. Maybe I could trade it in on a used 2002 S-10 and only owe a couple grand. you and blue book can lick my balls

Collectable ain't what it once was. They only made 1500 Shelbys, and even with Carrol's name, what do they pull now? A nice one might snag $3grand. Okay, it's not an antique yet, but I don't see people whipping up a froth over it like they have my whole life over the old Mustang-based Shelbys. There have been some hallmark cars built in the 80's and 90's, as it goes anyway, but they just don't, and never will capture the character of the 60's era muscle cars. Case in point: Viper at the recent "Cruisin' the Coast." Soon as a replica AC Cobra pulled up, it was no contest....and I love Vipers. Just the way it is.

I can agree late model cars will never have the glamour of hemi cuda's and such. Just because a car carries a name or sticker kit doesn't make it collectable. People have to want it or it has to make a name for itself. I've made a name for my Dakota. No truck in the neighborhood can touch it. But.... Nobody has bought a Lightning yet.
With 1400$ in bolt ons my truck runs 14.7s I don't tell people because it is pretty slow. But my trucks sounds MEAN and people probly think it way faster. It gets a ton of looks too. Call me a dumb f@ck or what ever but I love my truck and plan on keeping it until it rots into the ground.

SlOWRTMAN,

It's all in what you want out of your R/T. If you're running 14.70s that's pretty quick....Especially for a 4000+lb truck. Most people will never even have a car that runs 14.70s-let alone a truck. Yeah, L's are a faster truck-big deal. They also are built with a host of internals/exhaust/blower-and a nice fat price tag to go along with it.....I do like L's-and Syclones,Shelby Dakotas, etc. I'm really not biased, but all trucks/cars have their pros and cons. I know I cannot afford-at this point- to own an SRT Ram, so I guess I'll just have to make do with what I've got. I know that I can do it on a tighter budget with this truck so that alone makes the R/T worth every penny IMO. Take it easy man, -Justin

I feel that the first and last year of the R/T may be collectable. From what I understand the R/T for 03 is under 800 produced and that to me is an extremely low production #. What makes a vehicle collectable is the love of a vehicle as veiwed by the public and as we all know the R/T turns alot of heads when they drive by. If you even look at an original dime a dozen fox body 5.0 with low miles they are still getting top dollar for them. Why? because people love them, and you can not find one that hasn't been pissed around with yet and the same goes for the R/T there are very few that are still original.
