Message: Hey guys,
I got rid of my V8 Camaro Z28 and got a 99' Dakota with the 3.9L V6. What can I do performance wise to this motor? I know when I had my camaro I could do hundreds of things, is it worth it on this v6 and has anyone got a high-hp v6?

Message: You can get some good power out of that motor. Here's one of my favorites:

Message: I've got a V6 dakota with the HP estimated at about 140.
I've got some kick ass mods on it that you might be
interested in, but I really want to drop a V8 in it.
1. K&N FIPK - 16 HP
2. High performance spark plugs/wires (about 5 HP)
3. Throttle Boddy Spacer (Street and Performance
Electronics) (advertised 20 HP)
4. High Flow Catalytic Converter (10 HP)
5. Flowmaster Muffler (5% increase HP)
and premium gasoline, always premium gasoline
And the best thing is, all those mods are still compatible
with a V8. Other mods I'd recommend are a performance
pully kit, dual exhaust if you want, better colling fan,
performance starter, and a TB swap.
If you want to keep the V6 and not put in a V8 you can go
for headers, intake manifold, fuel injectors, roller rockers,
and more if you want...but these should keep you busy for
a while, heh. Get some good suspension if you want to be
able to use the new power.
Check out www.truckperformance.com if you want some
good options. JCW is good too.
Good luck with your truck, its a damn nice one.

Message: skip the throttle body spacer(absolute waste of $$) and go with a F&B or Fastman Polished 46mm TB.

Message: woah, i messed up...I meant 240 HP. Heh, 140 is less than
stock.
I wouldn't say that the spacer is a waste of money, because
I really felt the difference. I haven't got an actual
performance throttle body, but I would guess its worth the
price difference.
Glad I could help out. I'm not the best guy to go to for
major engine work or anything, but if you want to talk
about mods or something feel free to send an email my
way.
