it is very easy to find, it is directly behind the head on the passenger side.

Just a tip, for people with the older daks(mine's a 93) the sencor bracket is plastic not steel. The plastic has two round bushings for the bolts. The plastic is very britle and can easily break. They new sencor cost me $136 Canadian, and that was trade. This mod is not worth that much money! I saw no benifit from it not even butt dyno, but the new metal bracket was much easier to work with

why do you think that this mod was suggested for 2000 and newer trucks? it was suggested for a reason. i can see no reason for you to do it unless you have a 2000+ pcm in your 1993 dakota. which i highly doubt.

Janesy...On my 95 the sensor bracket was metal. Guess it could be a 50/50 chance to have the metal or plastic.
Gen II Geoff....I will look around and see what I can find in the shop. Im not positive where i put them. If I find them they are yours.

That could depend on many things; what your baseline advance was, wether you tow or haul, even your altitude. I advanced the timing in my 4.7 in a different way, through a PCM flash but principle is the same and I only need the good stuff for towing.

"This will work on any Dodge truck 92- to present except for the 4.7L or the V-10."

That came from krcperformance, funny, i don't see the part about 2000 and newer. Maybe that's because the crank position sencor is the same thing on all the magnums(aside from the 4.7 and v10), don't flame if you don't know what your talking about.Tool.

So on my '03 4.7 the only way is with a PCM flash?

Anybody know what there is available for the 4.7 as far as PCM that is worth it or even a way to do it ourself with a programmer???
Keep in mind that I do TOW. I'd put in 92 octane when I tow if I had to.

Alright guys im convinced now that I dont have a crank sensor at all. I looked from the top and from the bottom and I don't see any wires going to a sensor anywhere behind the passenger side head. As far as wires I only see the 2 wires that go to each pre cat. O btw I was wondering if I were to remove the precats, that would mean getting new headers and two kat boxes? There are two sensors going to each precat and the cat boxes that i remember seeing didnt have two outputs. Someone please help me out on both of these subjects. WHERE IS MY CRANK SENSOR DAMNIT and also keep in mind that working under the truck is very hard since I have the Hotchkis drop on my truck.

you probably wont be able to see it from the bottom. You will have to get to it from the top.

help... You can't get it from under the truck.

Look dirctly behind the passengers side head. It bolts through a slot in your bellhousing, and the bracket sits on the bock. Try using some degreaser back there, you may only see a plate about three inches long, with two bolts(or allen head). That is the sencor bracket, the sencor itself goes down into the bellhousing.

The wires clip into a harness that sits behind or on the other side of the distributer. The wires may likely be under the firewall, laying ontop of the tranny bellhousing.

I completed the mod. I took the sensor out and slotted it to the right so the sensor shifts left if you are facing the front of the truck. I noticed it idled higher but also a decrease in performance. I didnt slot it the other way so I could put it back to stock which i did. Seems to run better. The mod definatly wasnt worth the hassle or time. Good thing it was free, otherwise id be pissed

On your timing mod (Troy)...Sounds like you did it correctly. I'm assuming you took the rubber grommet out..right? Mine went from idling at 11 degrees of timing to 15 degrees. I had to drive it for about 20-30 for the computer to adjust. It then spins the tires at will from a stop. Keep in mind after it warms up the "Torque Management" will kick in and control the wheel spin. You should notice a little more power thru the rpms. I felt a difference off idle, midrange, and top end.

Torque Management, I didn't know Dodge Dakotas had such a thing!?!

If it does, what Dakotas (such as my 4X4) and if so is it thru the tranny logic or engine control?
I've still never heard of a Dodge truck having such. PLease explain.

SO Tom basically what you are saying is that I should give it another try by readjusting it again, resetting the cpu and try driving it around a little while???
