Message: Hello all, I just purchased a used 97 extended cab auto with 120,000 mi.
This truck feels like a four cylinder to both me and my mechanic.I know this is a truck and i'm not looking for a speed racer but.....can anyone tell me what the time from 0-50 is on theirs so i can check it against something? I did have a ram with a 318 and loved it.I am getting out of a 4.3 blazer and into the dakota and the chevy blows it away....maybe some inexpensive add on will help? any suggestions?

My dakota is slow too. 0-60 in just under 11 secs.
There's all kinds of things you can do though. Start with an exhaust and some kind of air intake.
Also search the archives. You'd be surprised at what you can find. BTW-before someone else says it, you could always just add on 2 more cylinders.

Message: Any suggestions for the xhaust and air intake?
I just want to pep it up a little and not kill myself getting on the highway.
The stock exhaust sound horrible anyway.I have flowmasters on my vette but that is more than i wanna spend on an everyday kinda truck.

Message: Everyone has their own opinion about exhaust. They're really just a personal preference. As for intakes, you might be best off to make your own. Just do some searching and you'll find directions for all different ways. I spent almost $200 on my intake and have seen homemade ones that are just as nice. But it only cost around 60 bucks to make. BTW-just out of curiousity, which gets better gas milege, the dak or the vette?

Message: The vette gets much better gas mileage and is a blast to drive.Thats why i'm not concerned to make it go real fast, just to not be embarressed or get killed.does it really take eleven secs to get to 60?
Sorry about stealing your name.......
