Subject: Video 4.7 True Duals IP: Logged
Message: Yesterday I got my truck back from Spintech. I
went from a full 3.5" side exit exhaust (Dyno'd
at 230rwhp) to true duals. Big Big difference.
They came off the stock exhaust manifold with
a down pipe, put a high flow cat into a X pipe
to a side exit muffler. It's like a new truck. It's
faster throughout the rpm range. It's just
unbelievable. You can see the underside
installation at GS Motorsports. You can buy
this set up through GS Motorsports as a bolt
on kit. I've got all the mods and my truck runs
in the mid 14's. This is really going to help.
Anyway here is the video.

Message: Jerry,
Is there any way we can see some "after" dyno numbers? If you dyno'd at 230 with a 3.5" side exhaust, and picked up a lot of power, are we talking about 20 more hp or 5 more hp?
Thanks.... your truck looks great and sounds pretty stout.

Message: Hi .Alex.,
I have read alot of your posts. I know
your making good power. I will go to the dyno
next week. If you go to the GS Motorsports
page you can see the install. If the stock Y
pipe picture is still up, that is the big problem.
When they make the bends in pipe, the pipe
gets smaller. No matter what I did to my truck,
(KB flash, 4.10 gears, HO cams, HO intake,
shaker hood, 3.5 single exhaust), it always felt
like it was holding back. I never got second
gear scratch with my automatic. Well now I'm
saving up for another set of Nitto's, cause I'm
burning these off real fast. I'll let you know the
dyno results next week.

Message: Jerry that's awesome! I can't wait to see the numbers. The reason I am so anxious is that i was about 1 week away from getting a 3.5" system isntalled on my truck. If your numbers warrant the gains, I'll give up on that and go with true 2.5" duals. I assume the pipes coming right off the manifolds are 2.5" as well?
My problem is the single cat. I dont' have pre-cats. I don't really want to run dual cats, so I may have to go cat-less. At that point, the question becomes, Where Do i locate the 02 sensor? In the X-pipe junction? If it only reads one bank of cylinders, I have a suspicion that it will read artificially lean..... that will cause the computer to richen the mixture up even further. Well, my Leach flash has given me enough A/F troubles, and the last thing I want is more fuel.
Guess I'll have to get with my muffler guy to figure out that little problem.
Your set-up looks great from underneath... I take it that the system is all mandrel bent?

Message: .Alex.,
Yes it's all mandrel bent. The guys at
Spintech do a great job of welding and
bending. It's 2.5" off the exhaust manifold into
the cats. The cats are positioned down the
pipe to let the gases straighten out before they
hit the cat. The stock O2 sensors are in place
before and after the cat. Then into a X pipe,
then into the muffler. It comes out the muffler
into a 3" stainless steel pipe that is cut on the
bias. I'm in Cali, so I eliminated one cat. You
can buy the complete deal from Scott Q @ GS
Motorsports. You can call him about the O2
question, He has the answer.

Message: I went to the GS Motorsports site and the page describing the system but never found the pictures of the exhaust. Can someone help me out here. I'd really like to do true duals for my '92 5.2 so I'm looking for ideas. I'm not sure where the driver side pipe is supposed to fit through, lots of stuff in the way. Too bad spintech doesn't make it for mine. :(

Message: I can't get the above link to work so I guess I will have to go to their site and find it. I would say that both pipes run down the right (passenger) side of the truck. Fuel tank poses a huge problem on the left side.

Got the dyno run yet, before and after ,with that being the only mod? I can't wait.
Again, no sarcasm, I'm really interested.

Message: Hi guys,
Just above the exhaust tips, there is some kind of trim mounted to the very bottom tip of the body. It runs the length between the tires. What is that and where can I get some? My truck doesn't have that and has a long metal piece that looks kind of ugly at the very bottom.

Message: They are called FX body skirts. They are newly
released products made by Dakota guys for
Dakota guys. They cover the ugly pinch welds
and the frame rails that we all have. There are
6 pieces per set. You can see them at GS
Motorsports.com. I think they are $279 per set
plus shipping.
