Message: How much horse power can the 93 pcm handle?
Can it handle an rt cam?
Put in a 5.9L creat motor. Having bucking problems on light acceleration around 2000 to 2500 rpms. It has about 385 hp

Message: What are the specs on your motor? Is that a Mopar crate motor and if so, which part number?
And is the 93 pcm a stock pcm or a Mopar performance pcm? For a 318 or 360?
If you are trying to run a 360 with a 318 pcm, that's not going to work too well, especially in a performance application. You can use a Mopar performance pcm for a '93 360 Ram, no problem.

The computer is 318 performance. The dealer said it woud handle better than the 5.9l pcm
right now it's sitting at the dealer to try and figer out. What is cousing the bucking. put a lot of money into this truck not to run right but for the short time it runs 45 min to 1 hr it's a monster

Message: The MP 318 pcm might do better than a stock 318 pcm - but neither one is the best choice. Get a 360 pcm. A '93 Ram 360 MP pcm will work just fine in your '93 Dakota, no trouble codes, no problems. The programming will be much more suited to your motor.
Another item I though of is fuel injectors. The stock 318 injectors, particularly at 10 years old, probably can't keep up that well. Look at some FMS 19lb injectors (Ford Motorsports). They would work well.

Message: mopar tech told me ( i never did put in the 5.9L) that the 318 pcm would not supply enough fuel, neither would the MP pcm, They recommended a MP pcm for an equal year ram to supply sufficient fuel and spark curve, As well as the injectors from a 360.
That's what they told me

Message: Stick with the 19lb'ers then. Perfect for your setup. The Hughes TB is a good choice to. I'd look at the PCM then as my first guess.

MPI Magnum 5.9L Short Block p5007549
Cast Iron Magnum Head Assembled p5007086
Hughes stage 1 TB
Ford motor sport 19# injectors
Stock keg barrel ported and polished
Crane ignition
New transmission 518 automatic
http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm
Mopar 318 pcm
New wire ring harness
All new sensors
Limited slip rear-end
Perfect power smt6
New plugs wires, cap rotor
Homade k&n cold air intake
When we first put it together it ran fine for a week. Coming off the highway one afternoon it started running ruff. From there it has been getting better but still bucks at 3000 to 3500 rpms light acceleration. It also has a very low idle around 450 or 500 rpms.
Need some new ideas

Message: I have '94 RC 5spd manual.
I have a very similar setup. I used the 4876913 360 shortblock 10.5:1
Crane Cam 214/220@.050 114LSA
Crower 1.7 rockers giving .552/.564 lifts
ported stock magnum heads by Hughes
4bbl M1 EFI with Mopar TB
21lb Chevy injectors
Mopar PCM for '94 manual 318
Crane HI6 and PS92 coil
Silverstone plugs
Custom return style fuel system with AFPR
Granetelli external fuel pump
Homemade ram air
dual electric fans
EGR delete
Doug Thorley headers
Custom true dual 2.5" side exhaust w/ Magnaflow mufflers
no cats
I actually had to disassemble the shortblock and have it and my flywheel balanced to go in the manual tranny truck. My truck idles at around 500-600 with noticeable lope but has no drivability problems with about 12000 miles on the setup now. I'm running a much larger Crane regrind of the RT cam on a 360 and my 318 Mopar PCM has no problems running it.
From a first glance maybe your ignition is faulty. A part throttle stumble/misfire many times is ignition. Look at the engine running at night and see if you can see any spark leakage from the coil or the wires. If you can't see any leakage, swap your coil out with the stock coil and also run the ignition with and without the Crane ignition box.

Message: Guess it's "that new math." Where is the difficulty in understanding that a 5.2 pcm will not run a 5.9 as well as a 5.9 pcm? The things are programmed to run under higher air management needs of the 5.9. Running fine? You don't know how well it could run if it had the right pcm. How does it make sense to spend all that money on all that engine hardware, but skimp on the pcm? The MP pcm has more programmed headroom for HP engines. Until you have the right computer running things, you really can't go any further in troubleshooting. Doesn't make much sense anyway.

Message: The stock pcm's can be had from any parts house. One place that has the Mopar Performance pcms is here:
http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/ram.html
Summit has some too, probably Jegs as well.
