Subject: MSD 6a help.....again
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a MSD 6a for my 1995 with a 5.2L engine. I have had this explained to me at least once, but I still don't get it. Okay, the heavy red and black go to the + and - battery. The orange and black splice into the coil. But where in the hell do the red and white wires go? The diagram for a late model dodge with a 2-pin connector says it goes to the original coil + and - wires, but where and what the hell is that!?! Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

LOL! I haven't used anything like that in years but I can probably assume that you REMOVE the two wires that were on the coil that come from your PCM, plug them into probably the red and white wires. This takes the signal from the PCM and processes it in the MSD and I guess the orange and black wires go from the MSD to the COIL windings that the original wires form the PCM were on.

Your new MSD is basically in between the stock PCM and the coil. Your PCM still controls the timing for the most part I am sure.

MSD's are cool in the fact that instead of one single spark, you have Multiple Spark Discharg for each combustion.
