Subject: 3 cats IP: Logged
Message: I recently found out my 01 dodge dakota r/t has 3 catalyatic converters on it. I'm a bit pissed and want the other 2 cats removed. Is it illegal to remove them and just leave the real cat on there? Will i get any codes? I bet them 2 extra cats are holding back a lot of exhaust sound and performance. Why would DM put 3 cats on this sucks.

Message: The third cat is for California emissions. It is not connected to the computer in any way. It could be removed to free up HP if you weren't scared of "Fedman" hunting you down. The two "pre-cats" are connected to the computer and shouldn't be removed.

by connected, I think you mean it has 02 sensors before and after. Sims boxes, or, it's even been posted on here how to make one, will take care of it tripping codes.
