Subject: Airy Engine sound until 50MPH IP: Logged
Message: MY truck when you start it makes a real airy sound. The engine is louder than the exhaust and it sounds horriable. It doesn't go to the regular engine sound unless I get past 50 bph. I don't know if my gears are slipping and my trans is about to go out or what? Any advice? Sometimes if I sit at a light for awhile it will go back to being really airy and it pisses me off. Thanks

Message: this may be ur engine fan because they tend to make that air sound at slow speeeds and at initial startup so see if u can take it off temporarily and if it quiets down than that is the problem. do a search on this site about how to take it off.

Message: That happens to me quite a bit. The sound is sort of like a shop vac. It usually goes away once I pass 35 mph. It also happens if the truck has been idling for a while and I resume driving. The fan seems to rotate at a higher speed to cool things down. It's a little annoying, but nothing to worry about.
