I see you have a 4.7 and also found a way to mount a
BM150 and wire it. Can you tell us 4.7 users any problems
and ease of installation.....if you have the time maybe
digital pic of final look.....i know im asking alot, but you
seem to have a handle on 4.7 situations.

Overview


I have had the fan on for about seven months now. In 80 and lower degree weather the fan doesn't even come on unless you are sitting still. Air passing through the radiator is more than enough cooling for it to not come on. I have my fan set to come on at a bit over 180. I am also running a 180 degree thermostat which is almost a requirement for this modification.

My Setup


I have mine set to stop when it cools down below 180. It doesn't stay on for longer than a minute or two once the vehicle is shut off. So it's not going to drain your battery. I did not connect the wires to wire the AC to turn the fan on. I use my AC two months out of the year and didn't feel like bothering with it at the time. I guess it would have just taken splicing into the current wire on there. A better idea would be to splice into the connector that's on your current fan so you can remove it when you need to.

Problems


In 95+ heat and the AC running full blast and idling it will over heat. It will get half way when city driving and less than half when highway/freeway speeds. All other times it runs just fine.

Install


The install was pretty easy. The hardest part was figuring a way for it to fit right. I think I found a really good way that takes no extra parts. The link at the bottom of this post goes to my page on Dodge Truck World for an example.

I used split loom tubing to keep the wiring shielded and stock looking.

The only thing that doesn't fit with the fan is the lower fan shroud. Which you don't really need since you should have a splash shield connecting from your u-bar to the front cross member. This is enough to shield it from any harsh elements.

The only other tools I needed to install this, other than what the instructions state, is a hack saw and vice.

Conclusion


I haven't had any problems with the fan so far. I have run it in 0 degree weather, snow storms, and now 100 degree heat waves. Not one glitch.


  • The wiring was your basic cut and crimp.

  • The install was pretty easy and all the part you need come with the kit.

  • The most annoying part is getting that thermostat seated in the radiator and getting it coiled back up and tucked away

  • The fan is rather noisy.
