Subject: Early-ish Dakotas: Seeking advice...

I'm considering getting an 89 or 90 Dakota, they both have
around 150,000 miles and both seem mechanically sound
so far. I'm nowhere near educated enough about these
trucks to make this kind of decision. What I want to know
is, how long do these boys usually last? (With reasonable
routine maintenance as a given). I'm not going to soup it
up or deck it out; I want a truck to drive, to get me from
point A to point B even though they happen to be several
thousand miles apart. And back again. Any help/advice
would be appreciated.

I have two Daks, 97 and an 01. I have 120,000 miles on he 97. It has been very dependable with little to no problems. The 01 has 6000 miles on it, this one is my toy. My wife has a Dodge Mini-Van and my son dives a Neon, Pro Mopar family. I am some what of an old fart and take very good care of my autos. At 150,000 miles things will happen reguardless of the make or model. I think the Dakota is a depenable truck but be prepared to make repairs because problems will pop up.
