Subject: Cam ?'s IP: Logged
Message: OK, I emailed KRC and they said they took the stock 3.9L cam and reground it to 202 to 210 duration and change the lift with rockers. I know about trucks and motors somewhat but how do you take a 188 duration and grind it to 202 to 210. Doesn't the lobe have to be fatter to make more duration? I asked what he meant by 202-210, whether he meant 202 int, 210 exh or if he ground them somewhere in there. He replied that 202-210 was his spec window. So does that mean he will grind it anywhere between 202-210 depending on what you want? Asking you all because it takes a week to get a reply from him.

You can build up the cam lobe and then regrind it. This is a common practice on custom grind cams if there are no blank cores available.
