Message: tryin to put a 318 into a 2000. there is no
computer for this as there were no 318s produced
in 2000. they did put them in the ram though. any
idea if i can use a ram computer for it? or if
another year will work like 99 or 01. thanks

Message: I'd suspect your best match might be a 2000 Dakota computer for a 360, unless someone knows if the '99 Dakota 318 computer will interface with a 2000. Just my best guess.

Message: You'll likely have to change much of the engine harness, as I doubt the 318 PCM's connector pinout is the same as the stock harness. I don't know what motor you've removed from the truck, but I'd guess that there are a lot of circuits that are different from a MPFI 318. It may be simplier to go with a carb on the 318, but I don't know what you'd do about tranny shifting, engine sensors, cruise, charging or other electrical subsystems that are bound to be different. You may have to look into the schematics between your truck and a Ram w/318 of same year. Maybe you could change the entire engine harness, if it would connect to the stock chassis harness at the bulkhead connector in the firewall.
Keep us posted on what you have to do.
good luck
