Subject: Dual exhaust effects? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 97 CC 4x4 with the 5.2. I went to my local muffler shop to c what they could do for exhaust. They said they could run a turbopack after the cat split to 2 pipes straight back with 3 inch SS slant cut tips for 280 installed. Questions: What will this do for my truck? Will i notice a gain in torque or HP? Ive never heard of this turbopack, is it any good? Will this sound good on the truck? Is it worth the cost? Thanx

Message: spliting the exhaust after the cat will only make the exhaust bill higher, and add weight to the truck.
just keep the single exhaust, and weld in the muffler of your choice.
either way, you are not going to make much power over stock

Message: So should i buy a single out system or just get a diff muffler? Ive noticed that my stock exhaust has alot of kinks and hard curves in its bends. will i gain the same hp if i just chanegd the muffler as if i changed everything after the cat with lets say a gibson single out system? Bottom line i want what ever i get to give me a better sound and a noticable gain in HP. I wil also be putting in cold air intake and maybe a chip, so will these work well together?

Message: i put a cat back system on and didnt gain anything in HP.
the only thing a performance muffler will do, is change the sound.
cold air intake (K&N genII is good) works, but chips like the jet chip work ok at first, but the pcm will "see it" and retard the timing to compensate. in other words, if it were me, i wouldnt buy it.
