 Subject: My Stock Throttle Body...how to gain HP?

Yeahp, just like the subject suggests. How can I gain more HP from modding my TB? How would I go about doing it. I have heard you can "Shave" it, but Im not sure what is meant by this.
Also, I WAS thinking about getting a spacer, but I have heard nothing spectacular about them, so I will save my cash for something else.

hey ray, the spacers aren't worth anything. They have in some cases been known to hurt, and certainly never help. About your TB. there are a few things that you can do to it that are 100% free. I've been sworn to secrecy but i guess it's time to let it slip. First of all you'll have to remove the whole TB and give it a good clean. My dak is a 02 so i'm not sure if your TB will be the same. There should be two plates that open and close. The plates are held on by two screws each. With either a dremel tool, or even just a sharp round file, you can shave those screws so they are completley flush. Next, watch closely as you open and close the plates. On mine they moved quite a ways before they actually opened up. This was the most time consuming and dificult part. You have to decide how much of the metal you can shave off and still enable them to close all the way. the ideal setting would be for them to start letting air in the moment they move even a fraction. Last, but not least, look at the plates from the top. As they open one side will raise, and the other side will lower. Notice how the edge of the plates are a sharp abrupt edge? On the side of the plate that is RAISING, you can round off the UNDER corner. On the side that is going DOWN, you can round off the UPPER corner. This does two thing, one is the air will enter that much sooner because the plate is only half as thick as it was, and second is the air will be much more smooth traveling around a smooth corner.
I'm sure i did a very poor job explainig this, and i'd be glad to try again with whatever you didn't grasp. This may seem like a lot of work for such a minor mod, but it reallys help quite a bit. You'll be able to tell a large difference in throttle response, and a small improvement with gas milage. I've done this to my whole families vehicle, including the mini van lol. Why not it's free power and econmy.

it's really simple to do, and free. no gasket no nothing. free. Anyone can do it. In my girlfriends ford focus we did it, but i made her do all the work. Pretty simple. What part is unclear?

Let's not forget the "S" bolt that holds down the hat. Get rid of the stock one that has that big square flange on it. Take some 1/4-28 threaded stock and bend one to fit.

I've decided to go with a used TB...from a V8...because i didnt realize how not expensive a used one is. 75 from a local shop here. ill let u guys know how it turns out next week when i get it.
