Odd setup. Would be less responsive than a system closer to the engine. What ever floats your boat and pays the bills.

would that work well? Could you do a setup something like this and compansate for the lost of boost with a bigger turbocharger? I just thought that was weird. Maybe this guy was just thinking out of the box... I dont know help...

Is that real or did someone have some fun in photoshop? You would loose a TON of boost like that not to mention you're picking up enormous amounts of dirt and water and road debris. At this point the exhuast has lost much velocity and wouldn't spin the turbo as quick. Also it is restricting ALL cylinders of the engine. Unless someone has lots of $$$ to joke around with, this cannot be real.

it would work but yes it will lose some boost from lack of velocity and there would be some lag as pressur built up, plus the drag on the return trip to the motor... it's not ideal but different... I think he was trying to borrow some technology from the big turbo diesel trucks that have the turbo mounted right before the muffler... only difference is their motors are liek 19L, the turbos are roughly 24" across and lag isn't a big deal on a motor that red lines at 2200RPM.

have you ever seen one... the impeller is bigger around than a 1 gal paint can... they weight like 75lbs... what do you think it takes to feed a 19L (1200ci) diesel with 25-40PSI... they do run dual 6-8" exhausts on those things... when you look at the sheer size of the motor it's in proportion.

HOLY MOLY!!!

I'm no expert on turbo's, but I KNOW that exhaust would lose lots of temperature before it reached the turbo. And the boosted intake would have to travel thru like 10 feet of tubing???
NO WAY!!!!!!!

I would be curious to how that exhaust would sound. There is NO muffler on that thing!

Never heard duners truck... Probably 2 coolest sounding turbo car's I have heard were a TT Hennessey Viper and a Quad Turbo Pro Mod Drag car... Honestly the Hennessey car was out of hand, it sounded like it was discharging a jet engine when the blow off valve let go, and like it would suck in a small import car when they got on it and were into boost... Very impressive, oh and spinning the tires on the FWY at 50 with just throttle.

I assumed that was on A Dak when you fist posted it. I didn't even pay close enough attention. But looking at the link, it says TurboLT1, I assume this is a Chevy, and kinda looks like a Impalla SS or something now that I look at it.

Yes, It's a sleeper, Probably sounds like a Jet Engine winding up for take-off. No way he will get any benefits from the T/C. By the time the Turbo built up ANY Boost from that much (Looks like 1.75 or 2") tubing it would be more like a Vacuum than a Boost. That's a small Turbo and probably not able to produce more than 5-15# to start with.

Looks like a Muffler way up front next to the Tranny on the Right, but where's the Cat? It's obviously a newer model car from the Aerodynamic rear bumper. Looks almost Mustang But running a single exhaust.

I'm with DW, Hope he don't try to drive in the rain or hit any water puddles.

I thought the rear bumper kinda looked like an Impalla (upside down bathtub) but now that you say it, I think it IS a Camero/Firebird, because if you look right down the middle it has that long arm that connects to the left center of the rear end that goes along side the drive shaft. I just spent time stealing parts from Cameros in a junk yard a few months ago.

Also, there is NO MUFFLER. Up front that is the Cat.

And there's no way that thing could work running thru that LONG intake tube. Some one had some money to waste!!!!

The LT1 and LS1 Camaro's have twin cats up next to the engine block... bolted straight off of the exhaust manifold. You cant see them from underneath the car and more than likely that is a muffler up there. The biggest give away that its a camaro is the torque arm going from the differential to the front section of the car. With a turbo, you really dont need a muffler... it does a pretty good job of it. I didnt run one on my truck when i had my turbo and i dont beleive the "RT2" project had mufflers for too long. With just the cats up there, the LS1 is pretty quite. On my parents, it has an SLP loudmouth exhaust which is basically a 2.5" y-pipe to a single 3" pipe to a split 3" dual out back with 4.5" tips. Sounds pretty wikked because of not having a muffler.

The turbo would work back there but if that is a muffler up there then that was kinda a stupid effort. That muffler would slow down the velocity of the exhaust and affect the spool... probably not by much but some.

There are turbo kits for F-bodies that reside under the car like that... but they hook up closer to the y-pipe. Now if that guy could only get say "5 lbs boost" into his manifold setup... he would still be making a crap load of power with that motor. You could get a hammer and tap the oil pan on and LS1 and it would make more power. I am sure if that car is for real and is running, that it is not a daily driver... besides that turbo being so close to the elements, it would only rest a inch or two off the ground when that car is lowered off of a hoist. In the picture, the turbo sits lower than the rear end and would only get lower when the weight gets on the rear axle. But i am sure that the guy(s) that did that did more homework on that project than you or i know about and i am sure that car can kick the crap out of most of the vehicles we own.

if nothing else... someone did a real good job with photoshop.... it seems to make cars pretty fast, too

When I zoomed in on that photo, it kind of looks like a FLOWMASTER up front.

However, on those cars the CAT did go right under the passenger side FLOOR BOARD, so that looks like the spot for the CAT.

It would make more sense for that to be a CAT (on a street legal car) than for someone to replace the cat with a flowmaster. there would be no point in that. And I still think the 10 feet of intake tube is not going to help!

you are correct... but it only did on the 95 and earlier models. On 1996 f-bodies they got rid of the single cat and put dual cats next to the motor. When they did this it took the LT1 from 275 hp to 285 hp. BUT... for some stupid reason they kept the hump in the passenger side floor board where the cat use to be placed.

So there would be nothing under that hump in a 99 Z28? I wonder if that could be pounded down. My buddy has a Camaro and that hump is really annoying to me :)
