Message: Mark: I also had trouble finding a robert shaw and finaly installed a Stant Superstat p/n 45358. I checked the temp at which it started to open, approx.178 deg., to full open at approx.185 deg., and closed at approx 175 deg. I have been unable to find any specs for opening or closeing for any of the performance thermostats. this p/n is for 3.9, 5.2, & 5.9 engines.

Message: Cooler is better to a point..........if you go below 180-190 degrees operating temperature oil sludge formation and internal engine wear starts to skyrocket...........btw autozone has the robert shaw thermostat you need

| Please confirm Robert Shaw T-Stat part number! IP: Logged
Message: Can anyone confirm Robert Shaw T-stat part number for a 2001 3.9 V6. The best information I have been able to gleem from the chatter on this website Robert Shaw 755-180. I located qty 3 of this part number at an AutoZone 35 miles away. It's not in a great neighborhood either; hopefully I don't die in a drive-by! I must want this bad!

Message: www.speedtweaks.net has the part #'s and
info you need, you could even purchase one
through them, but they were a little expensive
for my taste. autozone has them for like $5.95
I think speedtweaks was $8.99 ?

Message: My 180 stat seems pretty much worthless...w/ the new headers I got on it (without a coating) heats up the whole engine...I touch the cool air intake tube and its super hot, can barely keep your hand on it. And sitting in traffic the needle climbs higher than it did w/ the stock t-stat in it. Guess it would be even hotter w/ the stock 195 t-stat though.

You may try the 160 stat if your having heat problems.

Message: Everyone says stay away from the 160 stat unless I'm just using it for race. Looks like I'll have to pull off my headers for a ceramic bath. Guess I learned my lesson the hard way. I'm gonna dread this summer heat coming up.
