Subject: Cat removals?

Driving a 98 R/T now and would like to take the cat off. Right now I have a single 3" high flow cat but I cant put on a flame thrower kit on with the cat still there. I can already hear it, why put a flame trower kit on a dak? All I have to say is why not..Question is, will the removal cause the computer to start tossing out codes? or worse will it set the timing to the base setting? If the computer starts to act up would adding a mopar performance computer help? Right now I am running a 360 crate motor(380hp version), shorty headers, mopar cold air intake, mild cam and have done some minor head work. would adding a mopar computer help eliminate any problems that might arise from removing the cat or should I try to get the computer I have now re-programed? Any info would be much appreciated. Have been a troll on these boards for a while not and finally have a worth while question.

Just to get you up to speed on what I have done so far. Crate motor, droped 2" front and back, Neon Blasberry with ghost flames(prisim paint), Cowl induction hood, roll pan, moved tailgate handle to the inide, and a 2 into 1, 3" exhaust with ravin muffler. And yes I will post some pictures soon, hard to get the full effect of the paint on film.

Just get you an o2 SIMM from KRC or caspers electronics...

Cut the cat, and pop the SIMM in the rear o2 sensors plug. It will prevent the rough idle, surging, and check engine codes experienced with removing the cat.

Sounds like a nice truck, keep up the good work.

Holy crap!
Is this correct? You got a 360 crate motor to work with the 99 R/T stock computer? How did you do this? I'm curious because the 360/380 is a pretty radical engine. Just wondering...
