Message: Don't think they made any that way from the Factory, so anyone who does would have to have put it on themselves.

Message: uh if you want to go ahead. yes the dakotas come with 9.25 from factory, it's just they don't because the extra strength is not needed. yes you can put the 9.23 rear end in your dak. it should bolt right in.

Message: Thread Title: "Anyone with a V6 and a 9.25 rear end?" Are you sure about that Dan. I heard they only put them in V8's.

Message: the 9.25 don't come behind a v6 because they don't need a strong axle since the v6 doesn't put out that much power. the motor size doesn't effect the rear end. so yes a 9.25 can be put in a v6 truck with little or no trouble since the v8 dakotas come with them. and they don't change that much between a v6 and v8. i don't think you'd have to change driveshafts. your stock one should bolt on just fine. your not changing transmissions. the only difference would be the size of the yoke. that' i'm not sure about. In my opinion i'd spend the money to have gears put in your 8 1/4. That's what i did and mine is holding just fine. I also put a v8 in my truck. i blew the v6 up.

Message: OK, I misunderstood your point. I thought you were trying to tell him that there were factory V6's with 9.25. I agree with you that the 8.25 with gears would be sufficient and also much cheaper. I have the 8.25 in mine and it has been fine in with a V8, 56,000 and counting.
