Subject: WOT A/C off switch

Now that its hot enough to run A/C's, its a pain to have to remember to reach up to turn it off when the pimple faced school boy wants to run em at a street light.

Anyone installed a switch which could be activated by the throttle linkage at WOT to kill the A/C during a romp?

Ive had cars before that did that. Wonder why the Dakotas dont.

Ive looked a little for a lever type switch but cant find one rated at 25amps DC. Any suggestions?

If you have a 2000 or older, you can get the mopar pcm. It has the AC cut off, and a lot more.

A Tech told me that the OEM computer on my 2001 Dak did cut off the AC at WOT. This is a "safety" feature to allow for full power when passing.

I never really noticed before I got the B&G flash. The B&G flash definately cuts off the AC at WOT.

Its easy to tell if your AC does cut off. On a real hot day, with your AC on, run at WOT for about 6-8 seconds and see if the air out of your vents gets warmer.

If your TPS is not registering high enough then the PCM will not register WOT as often as it should. Speedtweaks.net has a diagram of all of the modes of operation our engines use, and at WOT, it shows that it doesn't operate the A/C.
