OK, I'm going down the hiway at about 70mph, when my truck started sputtering really bad. First time that has ever happened. I punched it (probably wasn't the best thing to do since I had no idea what was going on), it shifted down and got my rpms back up and it did't do it again the rest of the way home - another 10 miles. I'm in for the night, so I'll go back out tomorrow and try to duplicate it so I have more info. Does anyone have any idea what this was and what I should be looking at? Thanks.
BTW, I wasn't out of gas !!

One idea might be to look at the connection to the computer. I had a problem last year where sometimes the engine would sputter. It ended up after a lot of advice and a trip to the shop I found out the computer had a crack or a cold joint on the main board. If I pressed on the connector it would stall.

I had a similiar problem happen to my 93 and found the coil wire was bad. All i did was touch it and it pulled apart. I replaced it and never had another problem. Good luck on yours.

Thanks for the inputs. The coil and wires are brand new so I know it's not that. Today I'll check for some trouble codes. I once had a similar problem with an S-10 I had years ago. Every time I went thru a car wash or heavy rain it would do it. Found a cracked dist. cap (don't ask me how the heck it cracked), so that was the first thing I checked, since it was raining yesterday. I'll check out the computer connections, too. Later.
