Message: it has been upper 80's with high humidity where i live . how bad does that sap my power? ive noticed big time power loss. the truck still runs good and feels strong and tight but it can hardly spin tires from a stop , it used to spin about 15 feet or so . it is a 2001 r/t cc. it also feels sluggish. the weeks before this were nowhere near this temperature and humidity so it just dropped on us quick. can those temperatures and humidity do what im describing. im pretty sure nothing is wrong with it cause it runs great, dont get me wrong its still fast but i really can notice power loss. thanks for any helpful replies

Message: Aboslutly, power is dependant on air quality. Cooler air is more dense (closer molecules). Humidity makes it even worse.
When the air enters the combustion chamber, the cooler it is the more molecules can fit. During combustion, the air heats up causing molecules to move faster, bouncing off each other which causes the air to expand. The more molecules, the strong the expanding air pushes on the piston.
Thats why 9 out of 10 performance parts has something to do with keeping things cool.
