Message: I have been reading for hours all the threads on coldair intake and it seems as if everone has pretty much the same setup one way or another 2 90s and a pipe, I would like to get rid of the 90s use one 45 at TB with a pipe directly to cold air box, I was thinking of using AC duct to build a box in fender completly closed off only getting air from fender hole and front hole, has anyone tried something like this??

Message: 4.7dakman I found nitroussteve thread and that does look nice but not what I had in mind , I am wondering if by the time his TB does get the air if it is alot hotter from the metal pipes. I will just try my idea and post pics if it works out.

Message: I think most intake tubes basically become HOT AIR intakes so they are basically worthless as most of them go, especially the ricer specials with the metal tube and the filter hanging on the end breathing that ever ~HOT~ air from behind the radiator!
If you want results without the guessing, just cut a hole in your hood and install a scoop with a filter he he :-p
That always works for sure!
If you could get the air in with as little restrictions as possible while keeping it cool, that's all that counts. It's getting it to fit under the hood and keeping it cool while making it look descent that's hard. I'd make your own before you should spend any money on worthless crap.

Message: Franlofter,
I had some excellent pics of my homebrew intake, that does exactly as you say, pull air from the fender and front thru the grill, with an insulating wall to keep any engine air out.
It eliminates the air hat, the accordian tube, and is not metal, and uses a K&N drop in.
After an hour looking for it, I couldn't find it, and the pics were on my work computer, and I just changed jobs.

Message: TexasTodd Those pics would be great but sounds like there gone for good? That sounds just like what I have in mind what you described seems like it would work the best by only using one 90 or 45 and 1 short straight PVC right to cold air box enclosed around fender hole and grill hole. I was thinking of using sheetmetal for cold air box and wraping in heat insulation on the outside of it, then cut a 3" hole in it and put filter in box done.

Message: I used the factory air hat and a piece of 3" exhaust pipe. I trimmed a little on the inner part of the fender and put the pipe and filter through there. Cold air come around the headlight and the underside of the fender right to where my cone filter is attatched at the end. Cost me like $25 for the pipe and filter.
