Last night while out with a couple freinds in a Nissan Altima with a 4 banger, we pull up to this brand new Tacoma Quad Cab 2x4, probably with a six. Any way, the race was on and we beat him of course and I am pretty sure they both were manual trannys. Now before you guys jump on me about coming to this Dakotas forum bragging about a race I didnt even drive in with a ricer of all things and not even a sports ricer, I wanted to know if my 93 4x4 Dakota w/318, 3.55's, 4spd auto w/O/D, and almost 104,000 miles on it could have even stood a chance against the Tacoma? I say maybe but both my freinds say with out a doubt I could have smoked him.

My moneys on the Tacoma on that race if it's a V6 manual 2WD. They are swift trucks.

With the information given I wouldn't bet any money but I think the Yota would have the edge.

Data in the Motor Trend database shows a '98 Tacoma 4x4 with 2.8 V-6 and 5-speed getting 16.0@84 mph in the quarter. A 2WD would be a bit faster. The same database shows a '98 Dakota 4x4 with 318 and 4-speed auto getting 16.9@80 mph.

Uh, Toyota has never made a 2.8 liter V6. The current V6 is a 3.4 liter unit, and the previous version was 3.0.

Toyota has made a 2.8 and a 2.9 V6, as well as a 4.5 Hemispheric Head V8 in 1966. A Toyota 6.2 liter inline 8 comes to mind, as a matter of fact, just take any single digit number and put a decimal after it along with another number and you will have the liter displacement of some Toyota block ever made. V blocks, as far as physics and power are concearned, are only perfect for making money while satisfying the consumer for the short term. anyone who thinks a V6 or a V anything is worth a sh*t knows nothing about anything worth sh*tting on. I'll spank any Dakota that comes my way with a 1.5 liter and leave the nitros bottles closed, you cheating and inexperienced f*ckheads.
Forged steel cranks and conecting rods as O.E.M. is a stranger to you as well as 300,000 miles on one powerplant. Be glad I don't cruise in your town so that I don't have to put your sh*t to shame every day until you figure out what automobiles scorch the planet as king. Sooner or later, you are going to have to realise that American automobile manufacturers are f*cking us in the ass. Isn't it bad enough that there is such a thing as the I.R.S.?

First of all, Toyata Tocoma Quad Cabs are slow as balls.

More importantly, why the hell would you pull this post from over a year and a half ago out to yell at someone who probably hasn't been back since?

05/19/2001, what were you doing that date? Because that's when you should have responded.

Go home you troll. I suppose I can expect a response from you sometime around September, 2004?
